I hope more academy's take this advice. Absolutely priceless. And you'll be 10x the grappler because of it.

Straight mat wisdom. Jones conveys the message with eloquence. My usual statement is, "We all have to go to work tomorrow."

We do this at our gym all the time .

I always say to the guys if you can control them for 10 seconds ( which is so long when in trouble) you can 100% finish them.

Some guys don’t want to tap so I say just hold them there let’s say with the arm extended but no pressure and control them so they cannot escape and look at them with that look until they realise they are done.

works well for us

I don’t think enough less experienced people are understanding to not legitimately try to actually submit or “win” against their training partners while they are coming up. Countless times I’ve had catches cranked when my opponent didn’t have proper control to seemingly feed their ego to “win” whilst I was merely attempting late stage submission escapes. Then they wonder why I refuse them and repeatedly choose the same 3 training partners.

Craig is still the number one Bjj guy I'd want a chance to train with 💪 so smart and so logical

Position before submission
Means
Control before submission

So what you're saying is I need to crank the Armbar off the rip otherwise I won't get the tap?

This info is amazing. As soon as I’m not a shitty white belt I’m coming through for some Mexican Ground Karate 🥋 🤘🏽

Three simple rules: 1) Don't hurt your partner. 2) Don't get hurt. 3) Learn MGC.

Wish the spazzy brown belt who ripped my left elbow ligaments yesterday had seen this video. :( Sadly spazzdom apparently is found on all levels of jiu-jitsu.

Craig, you've got the worst case of anterior pelvic tilt I've ever seem. Take care of that or you'll end up really injured

Well but it could also give you bad confidence in beeing able to escape armbars. I bet you Hill and Jacare will shift their focus into not getting to the position rather than trying to escape.
