“This is a comment on a failed/folded relationship. One, knowing I'm one, hearing of two, is saying he is alone and hearing about the new relationship. This follows through with the talk of loneliness, when you laugh, the night alone will hear and the night don't care... then comes the awakening, the cold water morning. And yes, those of us who are in relationships, we know are doomed will know the feeling I've been waiting so long for you. There is such overwhelming sadness in this song; it cuts to the very heart. In the end, the couple are reunited...”
