1. Be self aware and honest with yourself about your habits
2. Can you do this forever?
3. You can't exercise away bad nutrition. Exercise is better to change your shape than to lose weight.
4. Nutrition is key. Creating a deficit can be tough when the gov't allows manufacturers to be off as much 20%
5. Don't let the numbers on the scale dictate your mood. It can fluctuate wildly. Better to use your clothes as a guage.
6. Exercise less, but be more active. NEAT=Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenosis. Cardio that isnt hard on your body. You can talk while doing it.
7. Understand recovery. You need rest days in order to build muscle. Use progressive overload to put muscle on. Cardio won't change your shape.
8. Know your Hormone levels and balance them. It wont make you lose weight miraculously, but it will help you sleep better and feel better, and make better choices.
Side note on Ozempic: What happens when you go off it? Not enough long term studies. Cam you sistain that your whole life? You CAN change your cravings and appetite more naturally through nutrition and sleep.

I’m 55 and pre menopause I didn’t have a problem with my weight but over the last 4-5 years I’ve gained quite a bit more weight due to menopause and also a more sedentary job. I also noticed my body shape was changing drastically as my muscle mass was being replaced by fat. Over the last 4 months I’ve started a gym programme. First 6 weeks I was going to the gym 3 x a week but didn’t really change my diet except cutting down on sugar and fat and I didn’t lose any fat or gain any muscle. The second 6 weeks I changed my diet completely and started eating much more protein, started following someone same age as me and following her diet plan. I’m starting to see results now with more definition and my general fitness is increasing. I feel amazing and I don’t feel that I’m depriving myself. I feel that my old body shape is coming back

Fasting has been a game changer for me. Started 3 1/2 years ago and have been able to maintain my weightloss! At 60 I am lifting heavy to failure, stand up straight, great bone density and have 2 autoimmune conditions. I sleep well every night and have no inflammation. The freedom I have now is incredible.

I’m 50 and perimenopause. I have been the same weight my whole life. I started to gain weight last year so I upped my exercise because I’m a clean eater. I continued to gain until I started exercising less and just having more daily movement. Also started focusing on sleep more. Weight went back down and I’m exercising less. Agree with all of this great info. Thanks Chalene💪🏽❤️💪🏽

Excellent first (introduction to you) video!

I agree!
I used to be a bodybuilder- was in the military…. Had cancer …. Bounced back.

Then I got diagnosed with MS.
I decided to fight for my life!
I gained over 100lbs with medication and feeling blah and letting myself ‘have naughty food for once’.

I decided to live this way:
1- Stress less
2- Sleep more
3- Fuel the body and brain more than indulgence of the mind
4- Move IT!
5- Consistently not crazy

So far my focus on less stress makes me feel like a success on the rest of the list. I lost most of the weight gain.

Best part is that I’m back to not ‘feeling like a loser’ because of my history and looking forward to overcoming the challenges.

I think most of us feel like if we still have challenges we’re not successful. That’s false and hurtful to the health accountability and pleasure of self satisfaction.

Bests! Cheers

Great to see you again! I used to take all your classes at 24 HR fitness in Rancho Santa Margarita. Thank you for this; I’m 65 and killing it because of you! ❤

People need a paradigm shift: Exercise is ‘the gift you give yourself’.

61 years and I had the menopause body…I was always naturally thin until then. Went keto and then carnivore. I am in the BEST shape ever mentally and physically without strenuous exercise. My body needed the protein and the fat helped my hormones. Life changing and so easy.

The most honest podcast I've heard in a very long time.... You're such an inspiration! I just turned 40, and you are making me feel OK about aging because we CAN get stronger as we age!
Thank you!

I have believed for years the scale doesn't matter as long as I like how I feel in my clothes. The scale creates an unhealthy relationship with food.

I'm 42. I was active and healthy most of my life. 5.5 years ago I became disabled. I lived in my bed 24/7 except to use the restroom. I lost all independence and my husband literally took complete care of me. I went to so many doctors. I eventually became so close to becoming diabetic and I finally found a Dr who wanted to truly help me. I am on Phentermine . It is for appetite suppressing but more than that it changes the chemicals in your brain and makes you have a ton of energy. I have had zero side effect and I do have heart disease. I started taking it in January and now I am able to walk without assistance, do resistance training, cardio, and flexibility stretching. I have lost over 30 lbs but more importantly I have lots a ton of inches. I'm eating healthier because I knew I needed to.

Girl!!! All the truths. My mother used to tell me these kinds of things when I was young. They are all tried and true and all have stood the test of time. 🙂

When my kids were little and I couldn’t afford the gym I did turbo jam and loved it. I still incorporate several exercises in my routine. Thanks for all those fun workouts Charlene!

I just found you & I am so glad I did! When I was in my 30’s I was in the best shape of my life. I taught two aerobics classes & an abdominal class 6 days each week (I am dating myself, lol, I taught step classes:) Anyway, I was so hard on myself I ended up getting diagnosed with Lupus in my early 40’s. I now know that I brought it on myself. It was an unconscious way to give myself a break to slow down. I did more than slow down, I came to an abrupt stop. I am now 58 years old, and my Lupus is no longer present in my system. I have healed myself from the inside out & I feel better than ever! I do everything in moderation now because I have learned to really love my body & because I love my body, I want to take care of it. It’s been a spiritual journey for me. And fun fact, I haven’t owned a scale in over 20 years! Thank you for being so transparent. This is an important video. New subscriber here!! 😊

On injections: I took it for 18 weeks

Pros: It did help with cravings and I did lose 1/2-1 lb a week. It’s been 3 weeks and I have not gained any of the weight back.

Cons: It did not cause me to lose 75lbs in 3 months like all of the examples I was told about. It did not bring my hunger to zero as I was told. It’s SUPER expensive. I actually feel much better without it.

Take away: I completely agree with Charlene! Just track calories and as you lose weight and change your eating habits, your cravings will go away.

Loved this! I’m 38 in 2 weeks and, after my second kid at 36, my body hasn’t bounced back the way I expected. I am accepting that age is a factor and it was refreshing to hear that walking and being active is probably my best bet at this point instead of trying to get back into my pre-babies fitness level and expectations. More sleep, less stress, staying active (with 2 toddlers, no problem) healthy real food, and not stressing over missed gym days - that is doable!! Thank you Chalene!
