David Prowse sounded more like a young and evil prince or something. He was okay, but didn't have the darker feeling for Darth Vader.

To be fair, David Prowse delivering the actual lines and acting them out, as hilarious as it was, probably helped the other actors out immensely. Prowse gave them an actual, albeit hilarious vocal performance they could play off of. It also probably helped his own physical performance too. Darth Vader is a team effort and Prowse brought his A game.

*James Earl Jones actually chose to go uncredited for the films!* He considered David Prowse’s performance inside the Vader costume to be more defining of the two of them. Prowse, after all, had to wear the big costume and he spoke all of Vader’s lines from inside the helmet during the filming.
I think that’s *awesome* of him!!! 😁

It’s cool that he actually spoke the lines, but I give props to his acting. Prowse wore a mask the whole time so he had to show his emotions through body language/movement. His voice may not sound intimidating, but he did an excellent job of displaying his presence whenever he entered the room and you can feel that when watching the movie.
