Im glad you made this video! Even though I knew of diplomats, for some reason it never occurred to me to look into it as a career.. like one of those far off jobs that only the high an mighty get chosen for .

Thanks for the inspo!

I couldn’t hold my tears because your story was a dream come true. You had a few stumbles in your way journey but you demonstrated determination, persistence and working-hard and now it has paid off. I’m a believer of the lord too so I believe he was part of the plan. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. ❤️🙏🏼

You really just blessed me with your testimony. I’m a dual citizen US/German working at the Frankfurt Consulate and I’m starting the foreign service interview process to move from the local side to a Direct Hire as a second career . So I’m gathering as much information as I can. I already appreciated your spirit in the beginning of the video, and then boom, sure enough, Jesus came out. :). Thanks for your joy and all the detailed information you provided. Blessings to you.

This was a very inspirational video for me as I am a aspiring diplomat who's family is relatively poor and doesn't have political ties

Our stories are so similar. 🤣 Middle class and grew up knowing nothing about different cultures. Fell in love with Spanish in high school and became fluent. Majored in it in college. Also was a part of Mandela/Tea Fulbright programs as Grant Assistant. Randomly stumbled into these! Later on, had a like-minded professor mention the Foreign Service to me. Finished degree during Covid, so social life wasn’t what I wanted and couldn’t study abroad. Waited a year to get my visa secured to go to Chile and teach English. Studying/trying to get into Consular Fellowship currently while in Chile. I also think it’s super competitive and doubt my ability to get in. But, we’ll see! It’s cool to see that you got in and that it’s possible!

I know this is an old video but the similarities between us are insane. I started college as pre-med, ended up transferring schools and changed to a double Sociology and history major, then dropped history and picked up IR as my second major. I’m about to graduate in a month and I’m moving to South Korea to teach ESL. I’ve been deciding on whether to go into a masters program for diplomacy after my initial year of teaching abroad. My goal all along has been to work in diplomacy or NGOs and I had someone just today tell me to look into being an FSO. I really liked your video and it’s definitely something for me to think about in the future. 😊

Listened from the beginning to the end as a sophomore college student who is also making the change from computer science. Your story is really inspiring and I hope to take a similar path as you!

This is such an amazing and inspirational story! Not just for future Diplomats/IR majors, but for people of color or even people in general! You demonstrated how you kept going through setback to setback, and every time it seemed that you were closer to achieving what you wanted, something else would go wrong. However, instead of focusing on the negative aspects or setbacks, you looked for alternative ways to reach your path, even if it would take a year or more out of your life. There was always an opportunity somewhere if you looked hard enough and I believe there are so many disenfranchised people out there who need this type of positivity. It's definitely not going to be easy, and there's definitely going to be setbacks (depending on the person, some will have more than others), but as long as you keep your eye on the prize, keep telling yourself "everything's going to work out", especially in times where it might seem stupid to say so, everything really does seem to end up falling into place in the end, usually in ways that you will never expect, but pushing through hardships instead of dwelling on them will make the doors that open up much easier to see.

Thank you for this extremely eye-opening and inspirational video, and I can't wait to see how high this growth mentally will bring you!

And to everyone else: Keep Fighting

I usually don’t comment on YT. I have to say I’m extremely proud of you especially as someone from Baltimore as well. This pumped me up ✊🏿😤

As I'm watching this video, and many of your other videos too, I keep thinking in my head "wow she sounds a lot like me and my struggles in college within myself right now"😂😂 it is super encouraging to hear you talk about your faith as well in this process, it has definitely helped me. I LOVE learning languages and despite my "greenness" in this area, I think this is something I'd like to pursue too. Ready to give it my 110%!!!

Your story is so awesome! This has inspired me to become a Diplomat and work for the Foreign Service! You’re channel was really a Godsend because I’m a senior in high school and your videos have really got me so interested, before this I had no idea what I wanted to go and study and had no true future aspiration. Hearing you talk about your experiences, jobs and opportunities truly made me feel like this what I want to do in my life! And God willing I will hopefully be able to achieve this!
Thank you for making these videos, Chelsea.
God bless you!!! ✝️🤍🙏🏼
