Today I'm showing how I clean my Weber Q. This needs to be done every month or two depending on how often you grill. If you don't, you will eventually have a grease fire.
Enjoy!

Whoa! I never knew (and only found 1 person that knew) about baking soda for a grease fire! Thank you so, so, so much!

I’ve decided to use a banana bread baking tray instead and then line it where the hole is under the bbq. It’s deeper so no chance of the oil falling out and not wasting foils.
I must admit though the Weber Q is the easiest bbq that I ever owned when it comes to cleaning.

I've had my Q for about 7 years now and it works great...to clean it, I take it apart completely and give it a shot of Easy Off oven cleaner after scraping, then I blast it with a power washer. Put it back together and get it nice and hot to sterilize it. Works like a charm ...the problem with cleaning it as he describes here is that when it gets really well used, scraping alone won't do the job...over time even with regular scrapings that thick varnish really builds up. Easy Off is pretty nasty (wear rubber gloves) but it really works.

GREAT JOB as always. I use a paper clip to open clogged holes. This past cleaning I detached the lid and scrubbed the inside. That's essential after a while. Keep up the great videos.

Makes me glad I got rid of my Genesis. Q grills are much easier to clean. Consistently good videos from this guy. Thanks much.

I love my q1400. I only use a power washer after every time I use it. Keeps it tidy and clean. No chemicals or scraping needed.

Totally agree with you on the foil in the drip pan. Makes it much easier and cleaner to get rid of it when the time

Two things I would do it easier to clean by removing the burner. Takes only 10 seconds and a screwdriver. this is from Weber. Use that same brush you did to clean the burner, but run the brush directly across the burner tube and not parallel to it. That way all the debris falls away from the burner tube holes instead of getting pushed into them.
Also, I have found using GUNK brand engine degrease ( the gel version) does wonders on grease stains on the inside of the grill and the lid. After a few sprays and wipings with a cloth I use some DAWN dishwasher soap and water to give it a final wipedown and to dissapate some of the engine cleaner stench I would not use any type of oven cleaner on the grill. Most of them are highly corrosive to aluminum surfaces.
The method I described above has worked extremely well and I have restored a rather dirty, greasy, cruddy, Weber Q2200 to cant tell from new status.

Flip the grated upside down and run it on high for 10 minutes will turn the crud to ash. Let them cool, then scrape with a ball of aluminum foil.

great video, but how do you clean the inside of the lid?

The burner tube is easily removed by taking out one screw on the left side near the igniter.  I then soak it along with the grates.  The lid removes easily with two pins and clips, and you can really get this thing looking like new!

I've heard that some of those wire brushes have a tendency to shed a little. Apparently there have been cases of people ingesting them and getting pretty messed up.

I was using a pin to unplug the holes but the holes around the curve almost felt like there might be a hose inside....thanks for the tips. My grate is one big heavy piece...
