ASUS Proart PZ13 Review

ASUS's Proart line has really been impressing me lately. They make creator products and they know what details to pay attention to. The PZ13 is a Surface Pro like laptop that I think provides more bang for the buck with it's new Snapdragon X Plus processor and OLED screen.

>> "Pro" "Art" tablet
>> WPP Jittery pen

how many tablets must they make to understand we love the iPad and the apple pencil for a reason...
with windows tablets i usually skip right to the pen section cause pen performance is probably THE most important thing to me, barely ahead of refresh rate (i prefer 120hz). i could live with 60hz but i can't live a bad pen.

I would like to see these manufacturers with modern sketch laptops/tablets also see a matte magnetic screen protector. I hate drawing on glass and no screen protector available is a deal breaker for me.

Would be nice if Wacom just gave oems their pro pen tech.
What an amazing amount of possible drawing laptops we might get then.

Great review Brad! It's nice to see more good Windows tablets but it's a shame they don't put mpp 2.6 on them.

It's been like 10 years since ARM processors started coming up more frequently and adobe still can't do it. They never will at this point.

For something that is supposed to be focused on artists, it's a shame they went with mpp instead of wacom.

Just to add; you can buy a separate charger for the Slim Pen 2 for around £20 - you don't "need" to buy one of their keyboard.

Kudos to asus for actually including the keyboard i am sick of Microsoft showing the surface pro with a keyboard then acting like it's optional and charging through the teeth for one

Brad, nice review, but I have two issues. 1) You can purchase a charging dock for the Surface Slim Pen 2; I got mine for $35, so you don't have to have the keyboard to charge. 2) The storage on the Surface Pro is used replaceable; there is a little door behind the kickstand that you can open and replace the Nvme SSD. It is never a good idea to pay the storage tax to Microsoft. My big issue with Microsoft devices is they male you pay $500 to step up from the base configuration to get an OLEDs screen; now, you do get more storage and an upgrade from the Snapdragon X Plus to the Snapdragon X Elite, but in a space constrained tablet, it doesn't really give you much better performance. At least the IPS screen on the Airbags Pro is really almost as good as OLEDs! The one thing I wish more OEMs that make these Surface Pro Clones would do is to use the 3:2 aspect ratio that the Surface Pro uses rather than 16:10. It just makes so much more sense for a tablet device; the weight distribution is just so much more manageable...

I wish Asus would make a new ASUS - ROG Flow Z13 13.4” with an OLED screen and a 4060 or 4070.

More choices for Window tablets are good, even if they are a bit underpowered (the pen still needs to be at least decent though). Even for people who do a bit of sketching/note-taking on the side of common office works, which mostly are on Windows OS.

Another great review Brad! Love seeing the comic progress. Also, question? Recently lost my iPad :( was curious about your opinion. Android tablet (s9FE + or similar) new iPad Air, or a device like this? I do art on the go for the most part. I have a MacBook already so it would seem silly to get something like this. but if it was just for art? I need to replace my iPad some way some how soon but Im not sure the route I want to go anymore now that android has really stepped up their art game (at least the galaxy tabs) did all my work in clip studio (for backup purposes) so I can just to a different device if need be.

Great review! BTW, this tablet has a Snapdragon X Plus with 8 cores and the baseline Surface Pro 11 X Plus with 10 cores.
I am surprised you mentioned that you can't download ARM version of Fresco.... I am using ARM version of Fresco for serveral months now (it was released earlier this year), first on my Surface Pro X (SQ2) and now on my Surface Pro 11.

Good review!

And yeah... My windows 2-in-1 when "Hibernating" drains the battery to zilch in a couple of days. I've never gotten a good answer as to why. It's annoying.

So, snapdragon is appealing.

But.., no Wacom, no deal. (One day the competition might figure out how to draw a straight line, but apparently.., that day is not today.)

annoys me that phones and tablets have removed 3.5mm jack i think it should be manditory for every device not costly and it's most damn useful thing to exists for years

This thing has a full SD slot, whereas the PX13 does not. Someone at ASUS product design needs to be made redundant ASAP.

Lunar Lake just made ARM (especially on Windows) look like a mistake. Can't wait till we get Windows tablets that are based on Lunar Lake.

Is it too much to ask for a Windows device with a decent battery, a good pen, and the capability to connect it to a drawing tablet? I just want an ipad like windows tablet that I can take with me when I need it, and hook it up to a wacom at home. So to keep my tech to a minimal and all my files in one place.

I hope we get a Microsoft Surface Pro with Lunar Lake aka Intel Core Ultra 200V Series.
