Do you know the difference between Chronic Fatigue and Insomnia? 😴 Well could you please inform my body???

So I have both of these things but, regardless of what people assume, they don’t necessarily relate to each other.

If I were to have a rare full night’s sleep (blame my insomnia, not my baby) unfortunately I’d likely still wake up feeling EXTREMELY TIRED. If I yawn in your face… don’t take it personally 🙃

I love sleep. Sleep doesn’t love me. If I get too little because I couldn’t fall asleep, I’m exhausted. If I get too much, usually because I was so exhausted after nights of not sleeping I collapsed, then I get a migraine. There is a very narrow window of well-rested I never seem to hit

Chronic Fatigue is the gift that keeps giving. People like to pretend they understand, but they really don't. 😢

As someone who also has both, there's a significant difference between "I'm tired and fatigued" and "I'm tired and sleepy" as well as the really annoying/frustrating insomnia thing of "I'm tired and I'm not just not sleepy, but I know that if I try to go to sleep or rest, I won't be able to".

On my worst weeks, I have slept for nearly 30 hours and can confirm, was still tired. On those days/weeks it feels like my body and mind are forcibly shutting down, like seeing the "now shutting down" message on your computer screen.

I was born an insomniac night owl. Some of my earliest memories include being up at 3am by myself. Apparently, when I was born, I would sleep in the daytime and stay up all night. Since then I've been diagnosed with a few conditions whose symptoms include fatigue (fibromyalgia, autoimmune diseases( The average person doesn't understand how debilitating fatigue as a medical symptom/condition really is. It can be really devastating.

I’ve never had problems sleeping until the last few years. Boy oh boy is insomnia awful. I never question the futility of my existence more than at 3am when I can’t get back to sleep.

Thank you I’ve always struggled with sleep and no one takes it seriously but it is so important to discuss!!

Same, I have insomnia all my life and fatigue came a lot later after illness. It's incomparable.

I have a love hate relationship with sleep. I would love to actually fall asleep in a decent amount of time and stay asleep until it’s time to get up.Instead of laying awake for hours only to fall asleep for a few minutes, then doing the wake/sleep thing until 30 minutes before my alarm goes off, when of course I fall into the only deep sleep I’ve had all night which is when I hate getting up.

Oh my goodness thank you! I'm not the only one! I have had insomnia my whole life and chronic fatigue since my health took a nose dive at 19. People don't seem to understand at all

This is my life! I do find it comforting to hear someone else discuss the same issues I deal with every day. Insomnia and Cronin fatigue can be very isolating and I sometimes feel very alone and misunderstood because of these sleep issues. Thank you for talking about it so that others may start to understand!

I feel this so hard. I have Idiopathic Hypersomnia and could sleep for 20 hours be awake for 2 and go right back to sleep for another 20. Its crazy to me that people wish they could sleep like me. It has its "perks" I can sleep thru all alarms and hold full conversations while sleeping with my eyes open. Its a lil bit freaky to those Im talking to tho 🤪

I’ve also had insomnia my whole life. Now I think I have both. Like how you can be so very tired, but not the least bit sleepy.

As someone with hypothyroidism...yes. no matter how much or how little I sleep, I can't remember the last time I woke up with a spring in my step. I'm always exhausted
