The Stupendium is a UK based musician, animator and content creator, creating weird, wonderful and usually incredibly nerdy songs and animations. Join them on their journey to obscure, niche internet stardom! They have some pretty decent videos, wonderful facial hair and a great sense of discomfort describing themselves in the third person.

this really shows that you worked
to earn the right to work
to earn the right to work
to earn the right to work

3:17 that's such a silly effect but it works so well

I love how this haves so much love that even after a year hearing this and watching the whole video, I'll always learn a new detail that I haven't watched!!!

Question: how’d you animate the poster a.k.a “WE WORK TO EARN THE RIHT TO WORK” part?

I never would have suspected you had to find a way to illuminate your face for the hologram to get that effect. It's cool to see what goes on behind the finished product

I like that you make the animatic like you would have to animate everything, thats dedication

How you're able to animate, edit, composite, and compose a video WHILE having time to game is beyond me

This is a fabulous comparison of how a project like this goes from a storyboard to the 'fine print.'

I listen/watch this video almost every day. It's on my "work listen" sound track. The video is amazing and seeing the details you go through to make them is amazing. You deserve so many more views. Seeing how you actually plan all those little details that are so clever is amazing. The thought process involved is mind boggling.

Still one of my favourite songs.
Not of Stupes... but of all time.

Been my daughter's favourite song since she was two. I used to sing it to her every night.
(Don't worry, I'm an epic singer; I totally killed it.)

I love how at the “we work to work” stup just stares into the camera with the 🤨 face 😂

3:16 Stupes holding what looks like an RGB keyboard to light himself, quite ingenious

It’s shocking to see how much work goes into this - and we don’t even see how long it actually takes between the animatic, raw, first and final product.

If I wasn’t taking an animation course alongside my degree (we had just covered storyboards), I’d have no concept how time consuming it is. Big props to everyone involved.

Side note, I Googled “The Fine Print” on an incognito Chrome browser, and the song comes up as one of the top results, behind a couple links to a book of the same name.

It's mindboggling how much work goes into these, glad that you're still making stuff and not burning out, hope you continue to make music for more and more years!

Absolutely horrified by the implications of the raw footage at 2:17

Absolutely astounding how much work goes under the surface, even more so, considering stupes is a one man band of sorts

Frankly speaking, the difference between the initial CGI background and the final product is staggering. I never realised how much shading and shadow effects you do to make them pop. Especially given the fact that you probably have to build the background yourself from scratch.
