Shoulda gotten a Chicago Style Dog and Fries with the cheese dip. Whoever told you to get a chili dog is confused. Need Gjardinaera on the beef Sandwhich also.

Italian beef sweet! Pure ambrosia! A buddy of mine and I used them to bribe the guys on the receiving dock we were delivering to. It was a Union dock. We parked the trucks at a Sam's Club in the suburbs in Chicago and he watched the trucks while I crossed North Ave on foot. I bought 8 of them. 1 each for us and 6 for the guys on the dock. Needless to say, they were so appreciative we both got unloaded 3 hours BEFORE our appointments!

I'm in the greater Detroit area and a Portillo's is being built ten minutes from my house. I could be in big trouble. Love that place!

I highly recommend getting the beef dipped next time. It takes it to a whole new level. It doesn't make the bread mushy like you would think either. Even after a 20 minute ride home for me it still holds up well. I had one for dinner tonight.

Portillos is 100% a favorite around here. Chicago has so much good food everywhere. I can't imagine moving anywhere and not getting to eat the food here. Although it would probably be better for my health if I did.

Whoever designed the interior of that place has great taste. It feels so welcoming and fun at the same time.

3:32 locals are definitely a good sign, my Mom reckons you can pick a good local restaurant if there’s cops eating there

For tourists what makes Portillo's so special is that you can get all the Chicago sandwich staples in one place. An Italian Beef, Chicago Hot Dog, Charred Polish Sausage or a Beef & Cheddar Croissant...and even BBQ Ribs and a phenomenal char-broiled Burger (which I would put up against Whataburger and In & Out any day) 😏 And yes their Chocolate Cake (or Cake Shake) is incredible too. They now have Portillo's restaurants in Florida, Arizona and California. Funny thing is this Chicago downtown location on LaSalle is the weakest of the bunch (it's way too busy and they rush the food out). And they serve beer too 😉

Diane those Italian beef sandwiches used to be served on Gonnella bread which was also a big Chicago thing. Don’t know if Portillos still uses it. Great vid and glad you appreciated the flavor !❤️

Ha, my daughter's college graduation was on the Navy Pier!! At the very end there is a large hall over looking the lake - it was beautiful!!
It's not good if it's not messy! That's what napkins are for!!

Gene and Judes for a Chicago style dog. Many great beef places Mr. Beef on Orleans, Jonny’s on North ave. Al’s on Taylor, Novi’s in Berwyn, Chickies in Hillside, Buona and many others. The beef at most is almost the same it’s the giardiniera, sweet peppers and bread which make each place taste different. They’re all very good.

I usually get my portillo's italian beef dipped, where they take the entire sandwich and dunk it into the gravy. You definitely need to eat it out of the wrapper that way, or you'll get covered!

"How does America come up with something like a chocolate cake shake?" Cheerful madness, ma'am!

The most genuine face of sublime euphoria I've ever seen after tasting that chocolate cake shake. 😄👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Would be fun for you to check out a comedy clip of Fluffy talking about his experience trying it for the first time.
