Hi, I have a super cub aswell, it's about a year old now and just over 3 thousand miles so far. Last August I did a john o groats to land end trip on mine avoiding motorways, it was 1026 miles into total. The best mpg I saw was 174mpg, and that was following a friend on his old c90 cub, so going along at a steady 35-40-mph. The day to day running around town I am getting approx 125mpg, but that is hard acceleration at every set of lights. It will happily cruise at 55-60mph on the flat, and on a long downhill I have seen 76mph on the clock, the main reason being that it just loves to rev.
I am a motorcycle mechanic of 30 plus years, having worked on and ridden most things. The first thing that struck me was just how well made this little baby is, it is excellent quality, there are no sharp edges anywhere, the wheels have a fantastic finish as does the paintwork.
Personally, I would wholeheartedly recommend this bike to anyone, it's my daily runner and I love it.

These bikes have a place in my heart . It's the first bike I rode in 1972 when my dad had one due to petrol rationing . Bike mad ever since !

They keep going forever. SE Asia’s main mode of transport. I even treated mine to fully synthetic oil cos I love it so much. Tip: it’s possible to roll start them if you find neutral between 2nd-3rd and then drop it in gear when it’s rolling

Number one thing to love: It gets you out of the house.

Have seriously been considering one of these as a 2nd/commuter bike & I think you’ve just made my mind up 👍🏻🏍

Agree with you about tubeless tires they're the best. But I love the twist n go on my 300 Forza. And yes you meet the nicest people on a Honda. Great ride.😉

There have been some gear box changes for the US market which is reverse to the British bike. Front lever down for down shift, back for upshift. Love the 17's and the tires also grip very well. Riding in hilly mountainous terrain I get 154mpg as average. I found a sprocket alignment tool which is spot on for aligning the rear wheel. Bike is an absolute joy.

"smiles per miles", I am convinced. I am going to wait a couple of weeks till the 2022 model comes out here in The Netherlands and am going to buy one. I had my doubts because the top-speed will hardly suffice on the highway but then.. maybe I'll just skip using the highway all together. Nice video!

In answer to the consumption question, I have a SuperCub and have kept records from new about a year ago showing an average of 153mpg (UK gallons). That's riding it quite hard. Not as practical as a 125 twist and go scooter as it is much more awkward to ride and has no internal storage, though I've added the Honda rack. But I didn't get it for practicality, as Mr F says, it's great fun precisely because it is so idiosyncratic.

I purchased one of the original Honda 50 in around 1962 or 1963 when I was just 15 1/2 years old. But now with the Supercub at 125 CC, it should go well over sixty even with two people on it. I'd buy one tomorrow if my other half let me, because she is worried about my age at 76.

I love those gears/cetrifugal. I lived in Bangkok for 5 years and drove a Honda Wave 125 (same engine and gearbox) and so easy to use in city traffic.

Close to getting one and I believe you might have persuaded me, thank you very much!

Just subscribedto your channel just. Fab and honest entertainment. I had a honda sh 125 innova for 12 years commuting 26 miles a day. Loved its convenience so much i used it for everything. I regretted selling it as wanted a bit more oomph and protection from the weather so got an xmax 250. I did 60, 000 miles on it and was going strong and still totally immaculate ridden every working day. Covered in acf50 most of time. Mine did 140mpg. Only fault i had was gear change indicator disappeared. Easy fix water in connector at gearbox. Had 3 chains 3 sets tyres and no brake pads. I so regret selling it just to keep as a collector. Understand why in Asia they are top trumps. When i sold it guy picked it up in a mondeo estate😂😂😂. On an aside my xmax as a commuter is fantastic, you get dry feet and body and 250 is quick off mark and will cruise at 70 no problem. Only 60 mpg though prob cos twist and go sensation is twist it flat out all time, lovely sensation. Done 30 k on this. Bought it as advert said seized abandoned for 3 years. I though a project. When i got there we carried it into the van. Got it home, yes it was seized - just the brake calipers. Seller was a numpty. Changed belt in that time, never missed a beat. I prefer to use it to my car or other motorbikes for getting around, shopping etc. On a thrash its a real mcycle but these commuters could drastically reduce congestion, emissions etc. I wish the govt would encourage the youth of today by incentives. Perhaps it would kindle youngbpeoples enthusiasm for 2 wheels. Sorry for long post but this type of motorcycle really IS pure fun. I have owned too many bikes over 46 years but still love this type of mavhine as an extra in garage😂😂😂😂good on yer fab and so true review

I’ve had my Super Cub for a few months now and I love it. My only complaints would be that when the engine is first started the shift from first to second is hit or miss. Weird. After it’s warmed up no problems. The seat kills me after an hour straight in the saddle. I’m 6’ and 200 pounds and it hauls me around surprisingly well.

You are probably my favorite bike reviewer, also its uncanny the timing of your bikes. We have both purchased/reviewed cb300r, rebel 500, super cub and i think ninja 400 within months of esch other.

I remember the time when I upshifted on a cub past 4th gear (no gear indicator) and cycled into 1st gear while downhill on a bend. Scariest engine braking, rear wheel lockup moment of my life, the rear of the bike violently catapulting itself left to right, left to right!

The Cubs have always had the odd gear shift. I passed my motorbike test on my Dad’s C70 back in the late seventies and the gears were the same except the, if I remember correctly, there were only three gears.😂.

I'm considering one of these as a fun bike to bimble around on and you've answered the only question I had about it....how the gearbox works....cheers👍
