You've spoken good words, Gil! I'm from northern Italy, the epicenter of the infection in my country. What we have to face was unimaginable a few weeks ago. We cannot go outside our house, expect for proven important reasons. It's a hard time, but I'm sure we'll go through it, like we've ever done before. For everybody reading this comment: stay at home. This virus is no joke, if it spreads too much the healthcare system is gonna collapse due to the few beds in intensive therapy. The risk is not for us younger people, but for our elders and parents. For them, this virus is a nightmare. So, we have to stay at home to prevent the spreading. #iorestoacasa

This is - in my opinion - one of the best channels on youtube, and here is why:
People often use their knowledge (or lack thereof) to form opinions, and then use their opinions as a baseball bat to hit others over the head. When people are opinionated they rarely reflect on why they think the way they do.


You use your knowledge in a more wise and nuanced manner to help others make constructive decisions, which is a more ethical and moral use of knowledge. You present facts, give some examples on how to derive something useful from those facts, and then let people figure the rest out for themselves. And above all, you see the continuum between the extremes on the spectrum, which is very rare.

Good video. I just plotted the total confirmed cases in the US for each day of the last ten days. The data is well-fitted by an exponential curve with R^2 = 0.99. The growth rate of the fit is about 31% per day, which means the number of infections is doubling about every 2.25 days. If left unchecked, we will hit a million infections in about 20 days. About half the population would be infected at around 40 days. I'm hoping the mitigation efforts likes closing schools, cancelling events, and general social distancing that is occurring has has already caused a drop in the high growth rate.

I mean, Elon Musk isn't wrong. I work at a grocery store and the panic is undoubtedly ridiculous. People are even buying stuff for quarantine or isolation purposes anymore, they are buying stuff for like living in a bomb shelter for months/ years if we get nuked or something. It's ridiculous. There was someone who bought a $4, 000-worth transaction worth of food, liquor, and toiletries yesterday at my store. I cant believe we even let him do that. The people's reaction to this is turning out to be be much worse than the virus itself. Thanks for the video though, great stuff as always.

Currently self isolating myself after visiting the same studio where a big name actor was to rehearse for the film we were about to shoot. Hard to tell if I have low level symptoms or it's my imagination but I don't want to risk spreading it and maybe my dad or someone getting it.

When you say that heart disease kills 20-30%, does that mean that 20-30% of people in America will eventually die of heart disease or 20-30% of people who are diagnosed with heart disease?
