Loved him, he had one of the most distinctive voices, you could pick him out anywhere. I didn't have a favourite song, loved them all. I only saw him live once at Liverpool Empire. He had all the girls screaming. I just wanted them to keep quiet so I could hear him sing. When I hear his records now, it brings tears to my eyes. Fabulous, fabulous voice, sadly missed.❤❤

I’ll never forget when he was on the Don Lane Show, and he appeared just after Jerry Lee Lewis gave a shocking performance. Gene called him out on it, he said basically you don’t give your audience rubbish, you do your best. I was so impressed by his stance. I love his voice. The duet with Marc Almond is very dear to me. He was an unusually charismatic man, truly one of a kind. Thank you so much for another excellent video!

I went to see Gene at our local music hall in the late 90's. As he was singing 24 hours from Tulsa, a lady in the front row got up and walked out. We felt for him, but when we got in to the foyer after the show, she was being attended to by an ambulance team.
