If the story behind getting the dog is true, the plaintiff's wife has the mentality of a child. She loved the idea of having a dog, but wasn't willing to take on the responsibility. I raised two boys, had a full-time job, two cats and a dog, and no one in that household was ever neglected. Also, there's no way that dog lived indoors, looking the way it did when the defendant rescued it. Poor baby was so fortunate to get a new life!

Matting is extremely painful for an animal. To be so bad that it needed professional de-matting, and to keep the dog outside in near 100 degree weather, is DISGUSTING. Him trying to say it was an indoor dog, that was outside just because she was coming, makes it even worse.

What an absolute liar, trying to pretend the dog wasn't kept outside. Poor dog was neglected, you can't just buy a dog and let it roam freely outside forever, you make a commitment to them by bringing them home.

I have a mini Aussiedoodle, around 30 lbs. I never realized it would need so much grooming like every 6 weeks or so. The coat, even with a good combing, can get matted in the blink of an eye. That Aussiedoodle hadn't been groomed or brushed since they got it.

Anything doodle means brush, brush, brush, or the mats will come. But they buy emotionally, with no research, thinking the dog is a toy, not another being with toddler levels of care needed. Ugh.

I don't understand why he would bring a puppy to his house when he already knows he's got 3 kids at home. There's a difference between wanting a puppy and planning to have a puppy at home. The man and his wife, both didn't think through it despite being adults and parents of 3 kids. If you can't afford to cater for a puppy long term please don't get a pet
