They should make you a PR person for the London taxi service.

I used to like the For Hire light in the old taxis, much more visible.

Another good tip. If there are people in the taxi, it is hired. These people are a lot more visible than a small blue light.

Great tip, will hopefully look less like a fool when hailing haha

That blue light is not more visible at all. Plus taxi cabs have always had a light there. They've had that light for the last 30 years just not blue. Our local ones is orange and just says "For Hire", if it's out, no taxi.

Tom you are amazing and I really enjoy watching your videos ! My dad was a taxi driver in the Boston Massachusetts USA area and I can relate to you. I was in London last month and I would be walking and looking at taxis in hopes of seeing you (fat chance ) I also used a black cab from my hotel and was hoping it was going to be you but no luck. Continued Good Luck in your taxi !!

Nice one Tom, this light definitely needs to be highlighted more (pardon the pun)

I'm glad they added the side light. I dunno why, or how many people in development ignored it as inconsequential, but the main taxi for hire light is so hard to see, especially on a sunny London day!

The easiest way to fix the light on top is to put a peak over it (like the front of a baseball cap) like the old FX4 and the TX1 to TX4 used to have. This would put the light in shadow so it would be easy to tell when it's on.

Can’t see the blue that well. Better to have a brighter colour when available. I suspect there is one but you don’t mention it

Cool! Also Canada House in that last clip! 👍👍👍✌️🍻

Is this new? Is this a response to the difficulties of being able to tell whether the TXE's light is on or not? I've never noticed it before.

My mate has a TX2 and it has that sign too

Tom, I have lived in London for 52 years and never - not once - have I ever looked for anything other than than the top light... I didn't even know about this other light until now, and my oldest friend is a cabbie!!! It's not just a secret - it's MI5 for your eyes only secret

Do they have a light that says whether the driver is in a good mood or not?

I knew that it was there but didn’t know that it turned blue when hired

For some of us colour blind, the new taxis are genuinely impossible to know
