Tip from someone who lives in London: Never use a taxi, use the bus or tube instead, there much cheaper and on the bus you can press a button that stops the bus so you get get off (Almost) anywhere.

Lies.... Unless it's a double red line a vehicle is allowed to stop... Double red = no stopping, Double yellow = no parking... Bigger issue is bus lanes. Taxi are allowed in bus lanes uber are not... So an uber is unable to stop in a bus lane to pick up or drop off.
