In this video Heimler reviews everything you need to know about AP World History Unit 2 Topic 2 (2.2) of AP World History which is all about the Mongol Empire and the making of the modern world. The Mongols, beginning with Chinggis Khan, held the largest land-based empire in history, but perhaps even more significant were the cultural and technological transfers that occurred under their reign.

You’ve been helping me a lot on AP World History. I had a little Unit 1 test that included the Mongols. It wasn’t the final AP exam but it was the test that impacted the grade. I got 28/25. But, I got 28 right out of 30 questions. Definitely keeping you on my future watches! 🤩

Summary: (excuse shorthand)
Genghis Khan has blood clot in his fist (probably not on test)
Mongols are nomadic (move around)
Genghis allies with other tribes and unites them
apparently its pronounced Ching-is
Gang takes over most of Eurasia, his sons continue expanding
Genghis organizes his armies into groups of 10s. Use bows and horses to dominate their enemies
Had reputation for brutality (psychological warfare)
Mongol peace, replacing empires
Grandsons organize empire into khanates(military regions)
Kublai Khan adapts Chinese culture (Chinese think he has Mandate of Heaven)
Economic situation:
Silk Road flourishes cause Mongol has full control. One state, total control. Mongosl built roads and bridges
Increase communication between cultures in the empire (imperialism good?)
Globalism makes cultures friends
Transfer of technology and medical knowledges
Wee-gher script became widely adopted language in the empire
Mongol empire fell :(
