In this video, we are specifically focused on SSI, supplemental security income which is a program administered by the Social Security administration and a program that sends out ongoing monthly checks to roughly 8,000,000 beneficiaries each and every month. We want to focus on this program because there are dedicated pieces of legislation in Congress right now which would increase Social Security as well as reform the SSI program also referred to as supplemental security income. We know that there is a piece of legislation called the SSI restoration act which was introduced a few years ago and there are also multiple standalone bills which would increase Social Security checks, Increase SSI Checks, remove the marriage penalty, increase possession limits for cash and cash equivalents as well as increasing SSI checks up to the federal poverty line. We're discussing all these details and the SSI Restoration act in 2023 and how it directly pertains to low income and fixed income beneficiaries who receive benefits from the Social Security administration.

My husband gets ssdi and I get SSI. My husband gets $1100 a month and I only get $280 a month. I hope they will get rid of the marriage penalty.

I'm single and only have my SSDI to live on. I barely get above the SSI Cap. So we, on SSDI, still need a raise to lift those of us who live below the poverty level at least UP TO THE POVERTY LEVEL ALSO!
