The Enterprise rising over the bow of Khan's ship coupled with the music was utterly fantastic when I first saw it when it came out originally in the cinema (many years ago).

Such an amazing sequence. It's funny as Kirk puts on the classes and checks Saavik on her experience. Then he pulls a cold one on Kahn...and the music! Heroic. "I did nothing! Simply got caught with my britches down." :)

How great this was to watch on the big screen at the drive-in when it came out. While the first Star Trek movie was good this one seemed like the old series again and it was glorious.

Back in school we had a thing where we could bring a film in to share that we loved. I, predictably, chose this. There were a few laughs and pointed fingers until we get to this scene. You could have heard a pin drop and then everyone cheered when the Enterprise fired.

When I met my now wife she asked me to share something I loved with her. Again, this was my go to, and she, despite not watching Trek before had the exact same reaction.

When the film was being shot, William Shatner kept delivering the "Here it comes..." line in a mocking sing-song voice. Director Nick Meyer didn't like it so he had Shatner retake the line over and over again. Finally Shatner got irritated with saying the the line repeatedly, so he intentionally delivered it flat and deadpan. Nick Meyer thought the delivery was perfect and put it in the final cut.

I love the small subtle detail that while Khan is a genius and was able to figure out how to pilot the Reliant, he lacked the in depth experience Kirk had as shown with his inability to find the override switch on the console. Khans hellbent desperation to defeat Kirk was his undoing, if he just took the Reliant and went his own way he could have learned all of the Starships intricacies and conquered worlds with it
