In this Power BI tutorial, we will learn how to find the name of day and month using Power Query. We have already loaded the table in Power Query with a column named "Date," which contains the dates. It is important to set the data type of the column as "Date."

To find the name of the day, we can add a column with the "Date and Day" option. By selecting the "Name of the Day," we can automatically retrieve all the names of the days, including Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and so on.

Similarly, to find the name of the month, we need to go to the "Month" section and select the "Name of the Month" option. This will give us the names of the months such as January, February, March, and so on.

If you only require the first three characters from the day name or month name, you can select the respective column and go to the "Transform" tab. From there, choose the "Extract First Characters" option and set the number of characters to 3.

By following these steps, you can easily obtain the names of the days and months in Power Query and Power BI. Watch this tutorial for a detailed demonstration.

the requirement is the table name and column name of the datamodel are using ID based names.. ex., Survey_123 (for table name) and Q_1, Q_2 (for column names).. we need to change the table name and column name to a meaning full names .. is it possible to change table name and column name via transforms.. and if it is possible, can it be based on reference table where the table will have the ID based names and their corresponding meaning full names?
