*Our comparison tests are different from most in that we keep the focus on comparison, not competition. We don't pick winners and losers because the right choice for one buyer is the wrong choice for another. Our goal here is not to tell you which car to buy, but to make it easier for you to decide which is best for you.

For this comparison test, we were looking at 3-row, midsize, non-luxury SUVs. For many of our comparisons we test a subset of vehicles comprised of top sellers and new or updated entries. To that end, we would have loved to include the updated Ford Explorer, but it wasn't available at the time of our test. Thanks guys!

The Highlander is the best out of the group! It's comfy, looks good, spacious, and even fun to drive! The 3rd can also accommodate adults nicely with the proper seating settings! Buying a Highlander was the best decision ever! To be honest the Pilot looks like a bloated CR-V on stilts in my opinion, but then again to each his own.

1st: Pilot or Explorer
2nd: Highlander
3rd: Nissan Pathfinder
4th: Dodge Durango
5th: KIA Sorento
6th: Hyundai Santa Fe

That would be my list. The new Explorer and Pilot are super attractive. If I had the $, I'd buy both.

The Ford Flex should have been added to this comparison. It is also a great choice in the crossover class and it is a good deal

I was surely expecting the Explorer and Grand Cherokee to be up there, since the two sell so well.

I had the Rav4 since '77, lov'ed it. Hated the '89 Santa Fe I had, always broke down

My brother bought a 2015 highlander limited, and that thing is like a Lexus! But I wanted to see the American offerings and how they stack up, especially the new explorer.

Let's see where we are next year for the 2016-2017 Midsize SUV Comparison Test when the newly redesigned Mazda CX-9 and the new Volkswagen Atlas arrive for the 2017 Model year. As far as KBB, I have a noticed a "lack" of American vehicles in this class, In defense The Traverse, Enclave, Acadia, and the Dodge Durango are considered "Full Size" The new 2016 Ford Explorer just recently came out. I'm surprised the KBB didn't also include the Dodge Journey and the "other" Ford vehicle that fits this category the Ford Flex. They are also 3 row Midsize SUV/Crossover.

I've been wanting a Traverse for a few years now, but I really like the look of the new Pilot....

I'm torn between getting the Kia Sorento LX or EX V6 (3 row); Hyundai Santa Fe (3 row) or Toyota Highlander. I won't rule out the two row ones (Ford Edge; Hyundai Santa Fe Sport-T; or the Kia Sorento EX)

Mid size should have been Edge, Murano, grand Cherokee, Santa Fe sport and maybe Equinox. Then do a separate 3 row test with explorer, traverse, Durango and all the ones in this video.

thankyou for leaving out the money pits (Ford's n traverse, jeeps). Just bc people buy them for the looks doesn't mean it's a smart buy.

Which one has the highest ground clearance?

The Pilot & Highlander gets my nod for reliability, solid powertrains, tasteful & functional interior arrangements. I ding the Santa Fe for its age (arguably the oldest in Hyundai's stables) and the Pathfinder for questionable reliability, similar to that of the not-included Ford Explorer.

Why not a better selection of vehicles? Explorer, MDX, grand Cherokee, Durango, etc.
