I'm trying on and RANKING the best and worst of Spring 2023 trends. Let me know what is your most and least favourite trend!

What I'm Wearing

What I tried on (some sale pieces that are no longer available, also Australian stock is always either ahead or behind so a lot of these are not online)
Isabel Marant White Dress
Joslin White Skirt
H&M Fringe Cardigan
Zara Maxi Skirt
Neuw Maxi Denim Skirt (not online yet?)
Zara Baggy Jeans
H&M Red Dress

SIZING
For reference, I am 160cm or 5'3. I wear an AU 6, XS. EU 34 and US 0 (I take one size down in US sizing). I am more pear shaped and often need to size up one size for pants for it to fit well at the hip. For jeans I am usually a W26.

I love how you discuss and show more affordable brands now instead of very expensive ones. Student here, so I can only dream about affording Sezane for example some other time in my life :)

That green outfit looked beautiful on you

Out of those trends I like the ballet core and sheer trends the best.

Seeing you talk about your knits makes me so happy! All the crochet pieces always makes me want to start a bunch of project to it's definitely wearable in my books (except for the very opened beachy ones...)

I loved the shape of the first acid green frock. I thought it was very pretty on you.

I enjoyed this video so much! Well done! I think I agree with you about each trend you talked about. Denim midi skirts are a staple for me and have been for 10 plus years so I was excited to try the maxi length but found it hard to walk in and too much fabric and not flattering on me. Since I like denim skirts so much I am happy that there are so many available to choose from and just shorten them to a midi length. I love the look of the acid green but not sure I can pull it off but would love to try it in an accessory of some sort. I really liked that you covered the trends and just gave your thoughts instead of making this video a “What not to wear” since we all have different taste. ❤

i saw someone on pinterest pairing one of these crocheted holed dresses over another opaque dress and it looked so fun and fresh i even got the idea to crochet such thing myself 💐

Middy skirt "trend" is the most flattering and loved imo and least favourite would be acid green colour in clothes. Unusual and unflattering colours always look dated as soon as they hit the high street shops imo, while personally flattering colours can be worn forever.

Crochet and skirts are the best trend atm. Denim skirts I am still playing around with. I do hope you find one you like 😊

I'm loving how your knitted fabric is turning out! I think a lot of the things you have mentioned are echoing the trends I am observing in the fiber arts community. Definitely a lot more punchy colors for spring as opposed to pastels or muted shades of pink and green. I also have mixed feelings about the sheer trend. I think it can be an accessible way to show off the form of the body in a more modest way for folks who don't want to expose too much skin, and it introduces opportunities for interesting layering. I think in this case it is mostly a matter of intentional styling and not feeling like you need to swing far to the skimpy side of the trend!

Loved your vlog Helen. Lots of details which I like. Like you I'm not very tall. I also prefer a maxi skirt but even better is a maxi dress that way I can hide my platforms underneath 😂. You looked so pretty in the black see- through blouse. I'm a bit too old for that trend. I'm sticking with Skinny or Straight Jeans, not a fan of Baggy jeans. I find big bags too heavy for me. So I've started wearing a light crossbody bag which I am obsessed with. Obviously that goes best with casual clothes. You always give me lots of food for thought. You look great in Red and Green I especially like the jumper you are wearing in the presentation. Anyway thanks for sharing Helen I realise it must take a lot of time and effort but it's greatly appreciated 😘

I always appreciate your perspective on things— you are both creative and practical!! 😊 Like you said, fashion is very cyclical! I got a black cotton pullover sweater from The Real Real about two years ago by Derek Lam 10 Crosby. The bodice is a close knit, but the sleeves are the open knit style you talked about. Interesting thing about this is the fact that the care tag includes the year it was produced, which was in 2014! So perhaps the open knit look was also trending back then! 😄
(The only thing that was wrong with the sweater was a snag, which was very easy to fix! So I guess it could also be a testament to the brand’s level of quality, and/or the cautious clothing care of the previous owner! 🤷🏻‍♀️)

This was a super enjoyable video! Very interesting to hear your thoughts. That muted acid green is an amazing colour on you! 😍 And so are warm orange-reds.

RE: Denim on Demin (is hard to pull off?)
Helen, I was enchanted and will not forget the beautiful Denim dress from COS you ore in a video once. I have been looking for it second-hand ever since and will not stop.

Loved this video. I like the rating table too. I like crochet but only as a layering or accessories piece like scarf or bag. On me I think it’s too bulky unless very subtle. My denim long skirts came from country road and Witchery. Both have got movement too.

Thanks for the video--I really like that pink ballet dress. For my style, I can't get behind the denim maxi. It's not for me really.
