If you already knew, then you're amazing. Have a great day :)

Edit: Idk why the views are going off the charts, but I just want to say that I'm not the one who've found out about this glitch. All credits are given for those who've discovered it. Thanks

Some of the awesome peeps who've discovered this awesomeness:

What’s hilarious is that the developers knew they wouldn’t be able to catch every glitch you people would throw at the game, so in the case that the undroppable Master Sword somehow dropped, there would be a catch-all handler, the sword goes to its default spot and this text shows up. Very good stuff on the devs

Time to see this in the next top 25 things you ACTUALLY Didn't know about BOTW!
That's interesting though, I guess the Master Sword was originally supposed to go back after it's depletion, but the game dev's saw it was a tedious job :P

Hopefully Zelda can hold off Ganon for another 100 years.

I believe someone already covered this about the master sword, when it loses all energy it was suppose to teleport back to the forest and recharge. But due to the inconvenience of that, they removed the feature to something easier for players. (Lore-wise it makes sense for it to teleport back, but gameplay-wise it's annoying)

The craziest thing is that the devs coded this in to have text and everything

Sorry, but your Master Sword is in another forest!

Could also have been a failsafe. If a player *somehow* manages to drop the Master sword he could run away and despawn it. Isn't the Master sword a regular item with some special code bolted on? Things like that can easily go wrong. It is easier to add this "useless" feature than to check every possible interaction that might have been overlooked.

Yes. This was already mentioned in a interview with the devs, where they mentioned and showed the tech demo, where the Master Sword would return to the Lost Woods when its energy gets exhausted, but since this would be a inconvenient (because you would need to return to the Lost Woods everytime) they removed this and turned it into a cooldown.

yes, it like in DS1, there is a chest at firelink shrine, thats already open. If for what ever reason, you drop an important item that you otherwise shouldn't be able to drop, or end up loosing said important item for what ever reason, that chest in firelink shrine will close, and have the lost Item for you to re-obtain. always love when gamedevs code stuff like that, just in case you break the game byond completion.

Hopefully when BOTW 2 comes out we get to see Skyward strike again.

I bet it was originally supposed to return to the forest after breaking instead of recharging in your inventory, but partway through the development they realized "that would be annoying to have to go and fetch it every time it breaks", so they changed it

I already knew this glitch personally I think it's an abandoned project of the developers when the sword lost its strength and they didn't remove it from the game.

Apparently people reported on this glitch as far back as 2017, but I personally never knew of it until now. That's pretty crazy, definitely something that was thought of early in development but was left in, perhaps accidentally, perhaps they never thought anyone would _actually_ trigger it (the internet ALWAYS finds a way). It's still crazy that, it not only has animations and particles tied to it but also a text box, they must've already tested this a few times during development if the idea was so completed before they scrapped it.

Apparently this was guna be what happens to the sword after depleting its power. They cut it out i assume because no one would want to run all the way back to the forest to get it lol could be wrong tho. They coulda cut it for some other reason

0:21 Anyone else gonna talk about how right before the Master Sword yeets itself out of existence, Link's model on the menu is nothing but a bald head and a belt?

Personally I don’t enjoy the breaking of weapons and stuff, it happens far too quickly, but I guess the only pet peeve I have with it is the master sword, like it’s not even the strongest sword in the game, at least it shouldn’t lose “power” if your smacking a regular dude around. I get if your fighting the calamity and Guardians, when it’s glowing and stuff, but man I just wanna use the dang sword lol 😂. I find all the cool stuff and then I don’t wanna use it cause I don’t think I’ll find another one. Like those katanas from the shrines, I only found like 2 ever.

Imagine having to go back to Korok forest each time you break the sword...
Knew it myself, but maybe that was something abandoned by the devs when working of this game, for these aforementioned reasons.
