Long before she took on the name Nightbirde, Jane Marczewski dreamed of becoming a singer as a little girl growing up in Zanesville Ohio. The cancer survivor captured the hearts of AGT viewers with her story and audition of her original song, "It's OK."

Unfortunately, Jane had to withdraw to focus on her health and she was unable to continue competing on season 16 of America's Got Talent.

After a four-year battle with cancer, America's Got Talent Contestant Jane "Nightbirde" Marczewski died on February 19, 2022.

Check out the video to learn more about her story and what AGT didn't get a chance to tell you.

She was like a shooting star: she was only here for a brief moment, but in that moment, she was the brightest light in the sky, and everyone stopped and shared in amazement. Thank you Nightbirde.

The South African choir that sang Nightbirde's song just this last night on AGT literally brought me to tears. I'm so glad that they paid tribute to this remarkable woman, and I hope they win the entire thing.

I bet thousands of cancer patients are using her song to get through it! Jane inspired us all! She had every right to be miserable but we all saw a hero!

I'm still crying everytime I see her performance. Look how simple, content, grateful, hopeful she s. shame on us for complaining about life.

I cried so much watching her performance, such a beautiful soul. "You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy" hit me to the core.

There's no excuse whatsoever for her ex-husband to leave at a time she needed him the most. That man is a plague that should be avoided; the essence of our common humanity is that we stand by each other in trying moments and not to leave our love ones behind in their trying moments. Rest in eternal peace Nightbirde.

I have cancer again and am about to start chemo. Sometimes I think of her singing this song and it helps me. Nightbirde is an inspiration.

I cant imagine getting a terminal cancer dx, then turning around divorcing, and still continuously smiling, carrying all that positive energy, as she did, until the very end. Even showing up to her audition alone. In the end, I'm glad she had the stage that one night so she could have the platform she did. She was able to have that golden buzzer moment and live in it. Watching the performance again, followed by the south african choir who then went to perform her original... And the fact that we're still talking about her. Her life was cut tragically short, but at least we all had that moment with her that will live on indefinitely in our hearts.

I DID SEE HER PERFORM. So happy she got to get up and sing and I had so hoped she would live. The South African Choir did such a wonderful job honoring her with her song. I loved that! 💜

Her line "You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy", has started changing my outlook on life, I suffer from depression, anxiety, stress disorders, PTSD and i'm also bipolar sometimes, due to other problems. I had given up on life just, since nothing is going my way, and hard. But just her saying "You cant wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy", hit me like a storm. Suddenly I had tears falling down and I felt emotions, I never though I could. It was weird, but now I know, that there is so much more in life than just 'holding on to failures" or "letting failures consume you", I dont have to hold on to them, and as long as I am moving forward and smiling, I will find home one day. Thankyou nightbirde, I hope u know, even if your are gone, that you have changed my life and your words truly hit me harder than anything. Thankyou, you will always be in my heart and I'll never forget u. From now on, whenever I see anyone in pain or whenever I see anyone is simply pass on your legacy "You cant wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy".

Thankyou

Sadly, Jane passed away on February 19, 2022. She was the best singer I've ever seen on AGT. She may have died, but cancer didn't defeat her. She's now immortal.

Angel's like her are rare, I saw her on AGT and was instantly hooked. She was an angel with an amazing voice... RIP Nightbirde. You were so incredible, what this world needed and still need. Nightbirde 4 Life. Remember her messages!!! Be thankful for everything you have. She inspired hope. Makes our petty squabbles seem silly. <3

I had cancer once and after taking six months of chemo I know for a fact how powerful she was, going through all this and still being able to smile and share messages of hope. It's trylly unbelievable..

The strength of this beautiful girl is amazing. That song and watching her sing it has changed a lot of lives for the better. She showed how powerful attitude can be when facing bad things. I am almost 70 years old and of all the people I have met in my life, she has had the most impact on me and my life. I hope she rests in peace, but at the same time continues to help us appreciate each other, and how precious life is. She was one powerful young lady.
