Fun fact: Celtic won their champions league with every player born inside the 30 mile radius of Glasgow

Ernst Happel was the manager of Feyenoord and then Hamburg when those teams won it, also taking Club Brugge to a final. One of the game’s most underrated managers

Fun fact: Feyenoord beat Celtic in the final in 1970 with a 118th minute goal to make it 2-1, the scorer was Wim Jansen and 28 years later he would go on and win a league and cup double in his only season as Celtic manager, that was Celtic’s first Scottish league title in almost a decade stopping the domestic dominance Rangers had for most of that decade.
He passed away a few years ago sadly
RIP wim 🍀🍀

I will always remember Nottingham Forest for two things. Robin Hood and back-to-back European Cups

It's because of 2 reasons:
Firstly the format was different. Only previous season league winners qualified for the competition, so a bigger diversity of countries clubs participated. Secondly the money wasnt that hugely concentrated in the top 10 big clubs like it is nowadays.

The 1986 European Cup final was a football match held at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, Seville, on 7 May 1986 that saw Steaua București of Romania defeat Barcelona of Spain in a penalty shoot out after 120 minutes of play could not separate the two sides. Barcelona had all of their spot-kicks saved by Steaua goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam, who was later dubbed "The Hero of Seville". It was the first European Cup final to finish goalless and remains Steaua's only European Cup triumph, and the first of only two won by an Eastern European club.

Nottingham Forest has a few records These include:
More UCL trophies than domestic trophies (2 UCL. 1 domestic)
Last English club to win back-to-back UCL trophies
Least amount of combined UCL games to win both UCL trophies (20 games total. 10 games each tournament)

Fun fact: Many underdogs in the late 80s won the Champions League due to lack of English competition (in this period, English clubs were banned from entering European competitions due to events of the Heysel stadium disaster.)

Mostly possible due to the old Europa Cup format. The tournament was so pure to just find the champion of champions. Wish I would have been able to see this time of football instead of the money grabbing format we have these days.

Did you know that Malmö FF and Club Brugge have the same amount of Champions League finals as Manchester City and PSG? Malmö did it in 1979 vs Nottingham Forest and Club Brugge in 1978 vs Liverpool.
