Today I thought I would share with you guys what I think is the best analog delay on the market right now. I saved my pennies for quite some time to get the Fairfield Circuitry "Meet Maude" after playing it every time I went into my local music store Eastside Music Supply. A tip about the compression: if you have it on the higher setting, it will go into oscillation sooner but in a controlled way. What I like to do is, with the compression on low, put the feedback to the very edge of oscillation. Then flick to high compression and it will go into infinite repeats. Unlike most analog delays, which will only get more out of control when you add more signal, this one has a ducking quality so if you dig into the strings while it's oscillating, the oscillation will stop until you ease off with your playing, and then slowly come back in. This both creates more space around your playing while keeping a background wash going in a song based context, and is a lot of fun when you just want to jam out.
