In this seminar, Jean-Marie Raquez discusses his work on stereolithography (SLA) known as VAT photopolymerization. It represents the cornerstone of additive manufacturing technologies by its high flexibility to create complex objects of high-definition into advanced applications (biomedical, energy harvesting, etc.). Thanks to these features, this lecture is thereby willing to unveil the design of programmable materials that can integrate “on-demand” several functions directly into a single material. A special emphasis will be made on temperature- and pH-sensitive actuators, ionically-conductive systems and structurally colored hydrogels during this lecture.

About Jean-Marie Raquez:
Jean-Marie Raquez, PhD in Polymer Science is a FRS-FNRS Research
Associate at University of Mons (Belgium) and a Scientific Leader at Materia
Nova Research Center in Mons (Belgium). His main areas are the chemical
modification and synthesis of polymer-based (nano)-composites issued from renewable resource using reactive extrusion processing. He has also in
charge of national and regional projects, programmes with industries and
European Projects (H2020, FP7). In the realm, he has more than ca. 130
publications in international journals, 30 personal communications at
conferences and is co-inventor of 9 patents. He co-edited 2 books and 5
book chapters.
