Wow, what a catalogue of the Commonwealth's military culture. Bloated like a bullfrog at the top.
I'm reminded somewhat of the Helghast; a society, however, that was ultimately more reputably competent overall in their warring than the Lyrans.
...And the medals and officer awards were so large and numerous, that the Lyran peacocks, er, higher ranks would have to begin pinning them down one's own torso, leading for the waistband. Seen after 2:45 in-video.
This High Command could use being lowered a peg or tow. Steiner-Davion had seemingly correct, not just ideal, intentions with her reforms. It's somewhat ironic that this state treated mercenaries more favourably and cooperatively than it was willing to equip its own planetary militias. Lyran commanders take the rank/title/supposition of “Noble” far too literally.
Another fascinating overview of a faction's militant, leading side...though, I wouldn't want to live under too many of these ineffectual commanders and rulers – so deigned due to nepotism and cronyism. That's too close to civilian reality! I remember JAG, and David James Elliot...the Lyrans are the first faction in this subseries to have such a department listed, I think? The LCAF strongly supported tanks...surprise! I appreciate, as always, your varied spread of visuals in this video, Narrator. Acknowledgements, Lyran tourism agency, but I'll visit Tharkad like so...from afar. Thank you so very much, exhausted GDN, for such an extra-sized, packed overview video that has taken me two viewings, thus far, to absorb. Immersive! in a blaze of glory

You set my mood for the entire video within your first 25 seconds (and actually 4 seconds of talking) with the mention of the Atlas Scout Lance! Obviously GDN cares and doesn’t just look up and spit out what Sarna has to say!

I was glad to see your deep dive on House Steiner’s military. I appreciated understanding how their vast wealth helped make mercs largely honored the same as their actual military counterparts (although I didn’t get that feeling in the game Mech Commander). Makes a lot of sense.
