It’s you vs. you. Everybody and everything else is a distraction.

My moms cousin quit ranger school in the 1970's. He said, "I quit ranger school because I valued being warm and eating a hot meal more than I vauled a ranger tab".

You’re not competing. You’re there to build each other up and help each other get through it.

In other words. 90% of dudes in the country can't Finnish BUDs....face it...but it's 90% of dudes think they're in the 10%....that's the PROBLEM.

Fix You, it's the only thing you can do

The military is not an individual entity. It's about accomplishing goals by working together.

The people that don’t make it either quit or it’s obvious they shouldn’t be there

💯. It’s a you vs you battle. How far are you willing to go? How much punishment are you willing to take? The guy’s around aren’t your competitors, they’re your peers and future teammates. You aren’t there to beat them, you’re there to survive and work together.

This is true. When I went through Rasp, we had a few recycles who got dropped week 7 and had to start all over with my class. No selection has a golden ticket to guarantee success on the first try

It’s a competition against yourself and what you thought your limit or best performance was. Once you’re in buds everyone has a chance to graduate. All you have to do is perform

He was looking at it like wining and losing and my man said no… it’s life and death. Stay hard. I am not a military guy my self but support our troops and I like the perspective you have on keeping it real with these young people

First day of ranger school I was talking to a guy who was a very accomplished ranger, best advice he told me "you don't got to be the fittest just be the smartest"

I agree, 100%. If you've made the decision that you're not going to fail out of buds, then it doesn't matter how many people are around you. Not that I know anything about BUDS....because I'm a super POG.

Interesting. Regardless of the others that is not your concern is an interesting point. So the standards for the completion of the course is your benchmark, and you should not get distracted from that. That makes a lot of sense, and the strength or weakness of your classmates is none of your concern. Understood. Very valuable. Thank you.

Maybe its different for the us but thats something i got told when joining the army in England. You've got to work as a team. But you have to make yourself stand out.

Stats are support for excuses. You can’t do it if you tell yourself you can’t.
