This video shares 5 reasons to use a wedi shower system for your next project.

wedi shower systems are a great way to waterproof a shower.

wedi backer boards and shower pans are tileable. Plus their cementicious layer makes the system solid.

That said, backer boards only way about 12 pounds and shower pans are easy to handle as well.

Shower pans can be customized to fit in any shower enclosure. They can be cut to size using a circular saw and utility knife.

wedi backer boards can also be cut to size with a utility knife.

wedi shower systems are definitely pricier than a mud pan but way faster to install. Plus, wedi shower pans are pre-sloped and eliminate the worry of puddling in a shower.

If you're doing a DIY bathroom remodel or a contractor you won't be disappointed with wedi shower systems.

Can Wedi backer boards support the weight of terrazzo wall tiles?

Hi! I really love your videos. We've demo'd our shower and want to install a Wedi curbed walk-in shower. I've been reading some folks think they are totally garbage, won't last, will fail etc etc. The big one is Isaac from TileCoach. Would you use a Wedi system in your own home after all your experience with them? Do you have a video on top Wedi installation mistakes? Thanks!

Hi I was just curious when installing the wedi shower base do you need to let the thinset under the base dry overnight or can you walk on it immediately and start installing wall panels?

I've decided this is what I'm going to use to redo my tub/shower surround. That way I can use it in my own home before a customers and be familiar with it

I am finishing my basement. My project includes two bathrooms. One is part of a bedroom suite and a smaller common access one. Both will include showers. I am still framing the basement and very soon will address the rough plumbing for the basement and of course the bathrooms. I may take you up on your offer.

Do you still like the kerdi systems as well? I put one in after watching Steve install a couple, it was easy and so far so good.

We just are putting in a Wedi shower system. I had my contractor set the pan since that seemed like the most technical step. After we set the pan in the thin set I realized that we didn't use the Wedi sealant on the bottom of the pan to seal that part of the drain assembly. The washers were installed and everything was screwed in except for that bead of sealant. Wondering if we have to pull the pan out or is it not a big problem? Or a way to seal it from the top to avoid any possible leakage? Its set on a slab.

Been doing these WEDI systems for several years now. I’ve only done 2 cement pans ever and don’t see the need to do one ever again. With clients I tell them I’m using this system and explain the advantages; If they don’t want it I just pass on the job; I have no desire to have to redo a shower system in the future because of potential failures, and the WEDI system is my assurance that that will never happen so this is the ONLY system I will use at this point. I have thought about trying Schluter’s, but just don’t see any real advantages to using that system over WEDI.

Once you remove the existing tub, and shower pan what refitting do you have to do to fit in the tub to walk in shower, and new stand up shower pan?

It's good stuff ~ but at 5 times the cost of hardi-board & redgard, the price is silly.

I am about to reinstall new subfloor in my bathroom remodel and looking for a product solution. I have already purchased the Ligno shower solution.

My bathroom sits on a wooden structure crawl space. when building back the subfloor what do you recommend to tie into the Ligno? I originally planned for 3/4 plywood with the subliner dry over top. Do I need a different product to deal with decoupling or will the subliner Dry get it done? Something like Schluter Ditra or Subliner Dry with Pro Flex?

Thanks

If this system had an overlap membrane at the joints I would feel more comfortable to use it, but just relying on a caulk bead on the pan, that scares me.

Wedi relies only on their poly to waterproof seams and corners, and this overtime is not very forgiving and has casued major failures in peoples homes. The poly over time delaminates from the Wedi board allowing water to pass through, especially in the areas where the floor pan meets the walls. Schluter and other systems that use banding to cover seams and corners is far superior waterproofing systems. I can see why contractors like they don't need to spend time with banding. Makes sense....time is money, but as a homeowner, I want it done right, not fast!

Also, good luck on any warranty claims....Wedi is known for turning down most if not all claims. They will find a way to void any warranty so don't be fooled by your contractor unless they are willing to warranty outside of Wedi.

You would know you are not supposed to cut HARDIE with a circular saw if you read the HARDIE instructions
