16:28 (avoiding the hit was possible, but you needed to brake almost immediately after you got your item)
17:13 (technically not a "hit", but Father Boo stole 2 mushrooms and the result was more or less the same as if you had gotten hit on the grass patch right in front of the item set)
17:29 (unavoidable, as not even braking before the trick jump could have helped with how Wave 5 butchered triple item protection while Wave 6 did nothing to restore how that protection worked in the base game and the first 4 waves of the Booster Pass)
17:34 (unavoidable, since that was a Boomerang and your only protection was one rotating green shell, which is worthless against a Boomerang attack even if placed perfectly for defense against almost any other attack item)
17:37 (unavoidable, as the player with the Fire Flower that hit you was probably the same player responsible for the anti-gravity spin right before a fireball hit, making Nintendo lag the reason for the spin while the player with the Fire Flower was in actuality behind you and able to hit with a fireball)
17:53 (avoiding the hit was possible with a wall dodge, but there's no guarantee the dodge would have been successful)
18:03 (another unavoidable Boomerang hit, with the only difference being that your only protection was a single 🍌, so the same reasoning for the previous Boomerang hit applies here as well)
18:08 (avoidable by braking right at the item set, but with how little race remained, braking there would have been every bit as bad as taking the hit)
Total hits: 7 (8 if we count the Father Boo theft)
Avoidable hits: 2 (3 if we count the brake at the final timestamp)
