Clearly this is Jake's dream setup and he convinced enough people that it would make for good content so now he gets to play with it in his spare time at work. Well played dude

I don’t know if Linus realised, but that car / track combo is crazy hard for a beginner! They definitely put him on that to get nice footage of him struggling and crashing, which worked!

Great to see our awesome industry getting more mainstream attention! Thanks for covering it!

I love how they immediately put linus on a notoriously difficult track

I love the way Linus tested the grass density and railing strength around the entire track. It is that kind of detailed testing that makes me come back for more... ;)

As a sim racer, watching Linus play with gear that I will never be able to afford was simultaneously fun and depressing.

I love how Jake can say "I'm not paying you to slack around" to his boss

That gear to skill ratio must break some sim racer hearts 😀

So my wife and me were watching a Freddie Mercury documentary. It may be Xmas but why watch something light and uplifting like Home Alone? I was moved but hanging in there. Then I saw the LMG video and the tears came. We've sold pedals to Le Mans, Indy and F1 winners. That always amazes me, but weirdly that is almost the new 'normal'.
I've been watching LTT since before Whole Room Watercooling, and to see us featured on such a large mainstream channel kinda hit me, after damn Freddie nearly broke me!
Since those earlier LTT days, LTT has grown a LOT, but remains honest, and with the new hardware test lab they're making, I can only have huge respect for that.
Weirdly, Heusinkveld is 'kinda the same', I hope. We've grown a huge amount but I like to think that the simracing passion is still 100% there no matter what becomes of us in the future.
I also used to wear socks and sandals, make of that what you wish. :)

Great, I've managed to keep my 360 degree you can go upside down flight sim plans at the BOTTOM of my dumb ideas pile, now I have to move it up. Thanks Linus.

Would have been great to see you correctly setup the triples to account for the angle of the monitors and fov etc.

An actually high end sim racing set up from ltt. I never thought I would see the day lmao.

Here's an interesting challenge you could try:

Find one or two people in the office who doesn't have a driver's license yet, and see how well they can learn to drive a real car using only the sim.

you guys should do VR with a sim rig like this, makes SUCH a huge difference to how realistic it feels. Being able to have proper depth perception is massive.

VR would be the way to go for displays in racing games. VR racing is incredibly immersive.

13:10 There are two types of people in this world: those that can drive the Nordschleife blindfolded and those that smack the wall into Hatzenbach.

A properly setup triple display absolutely helps (35-45 degree angles level and centered with the main monitor and properly configured in game). It's a massive boost in awareness being able to have your side mirrors and windows in view. Also helps some when it comes to hitting your marks around the track helping you hit your braking spots and hit apexes every time which helps a lot with consistency. Overall, you can absolutely achieve top of the leaderboard speed with a basic $150 Logitech clamped to your desk, but direct drive wheels, loadcell pedals, and triple monitor/VR setups can help a ton with consistency and awareness. Fanatec's FFB setups are overall solid to use out of the box. Max force of course isn't the best evidenced by you unable to turn the wheel. Only thing here that'll probably slow you down is the motion rig. It can be jarring and disorienting if the monitors are stationary, and you can get the necessary feedback from bass shakers like the Buttkicker at a 1000th of the cost although immersion from a motion rig is another story.
