What a great presentation. So many things to think about and learn. It’s easy to get pulled into complacency and believing that it’s all magic

SysAdmins are not dying. You are comparing a DevOps admin to a SysAdmin! Of course, a SysAdmin should not be in charge of your Dev environment. The same goes for DevOps admin should not be in charge of your IT infrastructure. The title seems very inflammatory and "clickbait-ish". If your enterprise has SysAdmins managing your Dev environment, you need a new CTO.

I don’t see Sysadmins as dying or going away, at least not fully, shops that adopt dev ops processes on public, private or hybrid cloud, will have admins who manage hosted infrastructure at large players, they could pivot to architecture roles. It’s more evolution, not revolution.

i like that, belief first, skills second. this seems like a really hard field to be in since you have alot of night work, itd be tough finding someone that understands this stuff well wanting to do it for a career with families

Soo... if SysAdmins are dying, where do you get "Ops" part of DevOps, pal? Do you even understand what ORIGINATORS OF CONCEPT HAD IN MIND?

"The only way to get this experience is Linux" 2019 Azure is the biggest thing. Learn Azure and AWS this very bias no offense probably good information but someone just speaking Linux because they like it. That's fake news as far as I'm concerned. Most corporate networks use Windows domains... Just saying.

Videos like these are pretty misleading. Systems Administrator is most definitely not going away. The role is just evolving into Cloud Administration or Cloud Sysadmin as theres a massive difference of a role dying verses evolving! Most businesses today are operating Hybrid both on-prem and cloud as the Sysadmin are are doing both. As all business migrate fully cloud the System Admin role will be fully cloud based Administering virutal machines in the cloud known as Cloud Systems Administrators. You still need to know server Administration to manage and maintain a cloud server infrastructure.
