Fun fact: Approximately 99% of the fissile mass in the reactor is still usable after those 25-ish years, but it’s more expensive and dangerous to re-process them into new fuel rods than to just manufacture new ones.

The process is exactly what I think. I was a refueling engineer at the only shipyard in the US that does this. I literally wrote the procedures. Neat to find a relevant YouTube short.

This is the future...always has been, any energy policy that doesnt include vastly expanding nuclear capabilities is DOA.

These ships can also power towns and they dont even have smoke stacks
