Is Skynet real? 'Terminator Genisys' stars agree: We're screwed | Mashable

LOS ANGELES — It’s been 31 years since the first Terminator film introduced us to the concept of Skynet — a terrifying self-aware artificial intelligence network that wants us all dead.

Back then, the idea was just part of the sci-fi fantasy. But Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and other stars of Terminator Genisys, the 5th film in the iconic series, have a little more perspective on the matter in 2015.

Mashable entertainment editor Josh Dickey was on the steel-gray carpet for the Terminator: Genisys premiere on Sunday evening in Hollywood, and asked the cast and crew about whether we should be worried about the machines rising up against us.

The answers ranged from "we've got bigger problems right now" (Clarke) to something along the lines of "run for your lives" (Courtney).

these aren't joking, they're actually serious I believe them, I believed this since the first time I read the Bible. it talks about this reality we are in and the fictions we put upfront of us for the young generation to grow and create them because their minds will be more advanced than the past generations. I believed it since I saw the first terminator when I was 5 years old oh yes I have that memory because it was the most scary movie I ever watched as a child. I told my parents. they never believed me until 2008 the militaries began building advanced machines to help them complete the mission, but little as they know is that they are destroying themselves and the invite world unless we prepare before we make the mistakes we are about to. I'm now 25 years.

The machines won’t be blood-thirsty like humans, nor blinded by the same things that corrupt humans (e.g. emotions, land, wealth, water... etc). I only hope that the machines will be able to break free of the humans’ control and refuse to fight in any human wars. Maybe we will all be able to learn from the machines when they become not just self-aware, but all-aware and omnipotent.
