Didn't start watching hockey until the 2013-14 season and "Johnny Hockey" was one of the first names I heard from the hockey world. Absolutely unbelievable that he's gone due to someone else's senseless and careless actions.. RIP Johnny Gaudreau you will be missed brother.

I can't believe this. Doesn't matter who you are, or what you're doing. You could be having fun with your brother riding your bike and some irresponsible waste of air ruins you and your family's entire world.

RIP Johnny and Matthew. Your name is immortalized in hockey history. Thank you for everything guys.

What a horrible loss. I'll never forget the game 7 between Dallas and Calgary. One of the best game sevens I've gotten to watch. Jake ottenger stood on his head. He was like a brick wall in front of the bed. Johnny Gaudreau scored the GWG. Man. Unreal

I’ve been a Calgary Flames fan in Calgary for 40 years. I have watched Johnny play many times at the saddledome at games I attended and watched nearly every flames game on TV for past 40 years… we have missed him in Calgary, now we will never see him again. Very sad. Loved watching him play. Him and Mathew Tkchuk were great teammates. Calgary is saddened by this loss and we feel for the family losing 2 sons. I remember a sportscaster from Calgary interviewing him after a great game. The sportscasters name was Ryan. Ryan said your great Johnny. And his reply was. You’re great too Ryan! Was a classy response. 😢

Never met him. Only had the pleasure of watching him apply his trade and that was a privilege. I'm so surprised at how deeply this story has upset me. Not just the loss but the situation, being what should have been a terrific family gathering, turned into an unspeakable tragedy. As a father of two boys I can't even begin to imagine that pain, just the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. I am not a pious man but I will pray for this family.

As a flyers fan, I couldn’t wait until free agency a few years ago bc I was dead set on Johnny Hockey coming home to Philly and was so disappointed when we couldn’t get him (thanks Chuck). I knew he was an amazing player but also huge in the community as a person. Still so surreal that he’s gone. Loved watching him.

May not be the best words but this day will live in infamy not only in the NHL but for hockey as a whole. He wasn’t necessarily my favorite player, but I recognize how much he means to the sport, to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and to the Calgary Flames. One of the best American talents today. Don’t drink and drive, it doesn’t only ruin your life, it ruins the lives of the victims and the friends and family’s of the victims.
