Retire #13... I used to watch his games with Grandpa. His favorite team was the Flames, and his favorite player was Gaudreau. My Grandpa passed away in early 2023. Miss him with all my heart, and I have rooted for Gaudreau for the remainder of that time after. My condolences for the families and the people involved in his life. May God show mercy on their souls. RIP Matthew RIP Johnny.

And just like that, I'm crying again, for the who knows how many-th time today. Our hearts are shattered today- not just for ourselves, but for the entire Gaudreau family. For Johnny and Matthew's parents, their sisters, their wives, for their kids who will never know their dads and uncles. And also for their second families- their teammates and friends.

We play Columbus at home on December 3rd. Lets lift #13 to the rafters that night.

What an unfathomable loss for their family losing their two boys. Not to mention Johnny was a husband and father. No words except Johnny and Matthew made us South Jersey folks so darn proud and we feel the loss tremendously. Godspeed.

No player had that kind of swagger that Johnny brought when he was a Flame. So shifty, so exciting, so talented. Seemed like a genuinely good man too. This one hurts. RIP Boys.

Absolutely fucking devastated. He was one of the biggest key pieces to one of our most electrifying cores in flames history, cemented himself as a superstar early on in his career, stuck with the flames through the good & bad and was such an incredible role model for Calgary and the hockey community surrounding this city. #13 must be retired in his honor.

The senselessness of this tragedy and the thought of what his family is going through makes me physically ill.

He’s touched so many lives, changed lives, perhaps even saved lives. Those years watching Johnny and the flames got me through some tough times in my life. Still can’t believe it. This feels surreal.
