Why Disney Has No Pride

With the suppression of and subsequent leak of the latest episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, one that puts a highlight on resident trans girl Brooklyn, Disney has once again exposed that they're all talk when it comes to their LGBT representation. Lets take a look back at all the examples wherein they talked the talk, but couldn't walk the walk

Ok, so I dont know how or why it happened, but the video uploaded with about 8 minutes of nothing after the actual video ends

I made the change with Youtube's editor so that the video is as long as it needs to be. For those of you who saw the original video with all the extra nothing, I'm sorry 😭

For those who are going to see the new updated version with all the extra fat gone, disregard this and enjoy

2:00 Strange World's failure also had to do with the abysmal advertising campaign. Like, there were Disney superfans that didn't know it came out

Fun fact about Gravity Falls: Apparently Alex wanted Mabel to be bi and have a female love interest but Disney said no and Blubs and Durand were going to kiss but Disney thought it was “inappropriate”

As someone who is Bisexual like myself it's baffling to see how Disney try to appeal to many markets yet they usually end up firing back at there face and that there tv shows are more better with lgbt representation than with there movies both animated and live action this is just so messed up on how the political system had infected our entertainment like a virus while trying to appeal country's that don't accept lgbt for religious and cultural reasons

It’s so dumb to use the current political climate as a reason to not air an episode like this, as if that’s not literally the most important time to do so

It's dissapointing, but not surprising that Disney would do this. Moon Girl is an incredible show, and it deserves better than this.

As someone who's totally not on the inside: Disney will literally fold to *ANY* complaining if it's loud enough. It doesn't matter how invalid, or petty complaints are. Even with our internal "clubs" it doesn't matter how presentable, or in the margins you are. You draw any attention to yourself you will be melted, and broken down like an ant under a magnifying glass.

Disney has never cared about lgbtq+ representation and probably never will. They only care about money and their public image, and if that means taking out anything even remotely lgbtq+, Disney will do it in less than a heartbeat. That's not representation, that's desperation, and it's incredibly frustrating and painful to watch and hear about.
Great video by the way. I'm bisexual and the issues you brought up definitely resonated with me, and I'm sure they resonate with a lot of lgbtq+ people too.

You can TELL that this episode, despite being well thought out, ended up getting shafted by Disney because it dared to do things Disney wouldn't want. At this point, I would not be surprised if they start scrubbing TOH off of Disney+ & their official YouTube channels completely a few weeks later or perhaps even later today.

Not a disney show, but a show with INCREDIBLE representation is cartoon network’s Craig of the Creek! I even like its representation better than The Owl House, (not saying TOH’s is bad, it’s still incredible and a massive milestone but that’s just what it is to me) and in the episode Fire and Ice, it tackles the conflicts queer youth may have in finding out they are queer. It also has many NB characters, and my favorite part is that they’re not all androgynous. It’s slice of life, so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’d still 100% recommend it.

I will never get over the fact that in Gravity Falls, two men or two women kissing (they cut a short appearance of a lesbian couple out of the Lovegod episode) was deemed unacceptable, YET it was a reoccuring joke that there's a law in Gravity Falls that allows you to MARRY WOODPECKERS. There was a guy who was married to a woodpecker, another guy supposedly married to a racoon, a couple of a snake and a badger, but god forbid we see two human adults of the same gender kiss.

If Disney keeps diging themselves in the ground like this, they're going bankrupt for sure.

I think it’s FUCKING hilarious when weirdos try to accuse Disney of being “woke” when they are literally the exact opposite.

It sounds like Owl House really wants the badge of honor of being the first animated (not just Disney) show to have every type of lgbt representation they could, almost in a defient manner lol.

Also, with the moongirl episode, yeah Disney probably didn't want any possible blow back with such a sensitive topic. Perhaps if the political climate or discussions around that were different then maybe it wouldn't be a problem for them to air it 🤔.

Strange Magic bombed because they didn't fucking advertise it. Did anyone actually hear of it before it was out?? Compare that with Encanto not that long prior.

So is Disney ok with violence in their shows but not males hugging males and females kissing each other?

Even the big mouth overlords of Netflix had more balls with the bi and trans character in that one show

as a ftm that sentence at 6:53 sounded like a great appreciation of trans people standing up against most people that keep denying against calling them whatever they feel comfortable in
Moon Girl is such an incredible show and it honestly should've deserved better than that ! js my opinion tho
