Just finished this LandFitForHeroes trilogy - and it.. One of the best modern takes on the sword’n’sorcery genre - swordfights, crazy-horror-magic stuff, gay stuff, like-lots-of-blood-stuff, f*** words, even f***ing dragons - now I got to buy myself a sword... hey Slow - love your reviews too

Very spot on review ! This trilogy is not for the weak. Dark, overly expressive violence, subversive thought provoking read. For me it was a welcomed fresh shockingly different novel I didn't know I needed. Transportive character development . I couldn't put them down.The audio books read by Simon Vance are so richly produced. Ive read a lot of stuff, however nothing like this. I plan to reread them as well.

Morgan is one of my favourite SFF authors, as much as I love the Kovacs trilogy, these books are better in almost everyway. Ringil stole the series from the beginning to the end.
Hopefully he returns to this world, or Fantasy in general, oh well, at least he's got a few more Sci-Fi books I still haven't read. I think he's got another Sci-Fi book coming out this year.
I would say Steel Remains is my favourite of the trilogy but Dark Defiles ain't far behind.

It's weird.. I loved this trilogy, yet I've never felt the need to pick up Morgan's sci-fi books. Maybe I should some day..
Until that time I'm hoping right beside you that he writes another fantasy series, because I am always in for more of this!
