I was thinking about this, I thought you might need the wood to be perforated to allow the moisture to escape. It's been a year since you made it. Has the board warped at all?

Have the same setup... Kinda hate my cutting table... Too wobbly. But love my cutting board. I just have to use the dinning room table or the floor. Thinking of making a fold down table with cutting board and ironing board...

However, you can use polyester batting... Been making ironing board covers with polyester fleece/batting for years. Also, retail padded covers contain polyester too.
