China's Heat Wave | Investigative Report | Chongqing

Chongqing, a megacity in Southwest China, made international headlines last month. The recent rains have finally ended this prolonged heat wave.

July-August 2022, the Yangtze River has been experiencing the worst meteorological drought since 1961. With a rare “reverse dry season in the flood season.” On August 11, the Ministry of Water Resources launched a level IV emergency response to drought prevention in 6 provinces and cities, including Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Anhui. The water and electricity supply has been affected by drought. In Chongqing, the highest temperature reached an unprecedented 45°C. according to the forecast of the Chongqing Meteorological Observatory.

Incredibly sad and difficult to watch how Climate Change is affecting China in this terrible way. What is most disturbing is that China is and has always been the World Leader in Smart & Green Technologies implementation on a nationwide scale. China along with other conscientious countries suffer due to the impact caused by supposedly developed nations simply ignoring this crisis at the World's doorstep. It takes a World effort to combat Climate Change. China can't do it alone and shouldn't be forced to suffer the effects of those nations that ignore this emergent threat!
