“Steven, you were fired three months ago. This has to stop.”

He is clearly a current or former member of this unit, in civilian clothes. Everything was spot on

To those saying he did not salute. He did so with an eyes left. You do not salute by hand when not in uniforrm.

Off duty, no salute without uniform, still in style with his comrades. Real respect.

I'm so proud of them.
3rd guy turned his head, as he isnt allowed to salute when in civi clothes.
Wasn't out of disrespect at all. Was respect!!!

I remember the fellow in the middle of the 3 teaching me drill at Hendon. He is an ex-guardsman who joined the job after leaving the forces and now is an instructor for the passing out parades at the Peel Centre.

The trolls will always find a negative.
Even if this guy was not a veteran, he marched in perfect time and gave his respect to the fallen. Good man!

His moustache has killed 18 enemies on its own
Doesn't need a uniform

The plain clothes guy is a serving member and can’t salute because he’s not wearing uniform or he is an ex military 👍

Im an old veteran and i still want to march and salute. I guess it is something in us. Nothing feels quiet like receiving a salute from another old veteran. It is a real compliment.

Some conrext for those who didn't serve in the UK HMF:
(I'm ex military and currently serving sergeant in Met Police. 34 years service overall).
They are likely- all 3- to be ex guardsmen of that unit and are paying respects to their old unit.
The man in civvies can't salute cos he's not in uniform or is no longer serving. BTW, no uk military salute in civvies OR if not wearing head dress. We know a lot of the world do but UK HMF does not. At all. Ever! Hollywood/TV, often f#cks that minor detail up.
The salute by my 2 uniformed colleagues is the MET POLICE salute. For those who have been through Hendon police college in London and like me who were ex HMF, we didn't half scratch our heads when taught this one as its very unique to the Police. The other UK police forces salute the open palm way, that is the UK army, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force way. The Met Police salute comes from the Roman salute of Old which is to cover one's eye. In others words, "whilst I respect you I'm keeping one eye on you", as any good copper would.

Whatever the situation, he's being respectful. That's what matters.

Can all the people from the US just pay attention to the fact that other militaries don't operate the same way? The number of people going off in these comments like a bunch of fools because they don't know the parade drill from the UK. Hell, I don't know all of it either (the CAF has similar drill), but I wouldn't assume to correct the US army on their drill when I have no damn clue what it is
