I was the B Camera 2nd AC on this! One of the best experiences I’ve had. Great crew. Ending was so fun to shoot.
Been a long time Stuckmann fan and it’s surreal to see his thoughts on something I was involved with.

I think the alien observing the photos thought the way to keep her subdued and in trance was to bring back her friend, in her mind. But, we were shown that although she felt sorrow it didn't work. She was able to see through the illusion and break it, freeing herself. Then in the woods, her clone stubs her, she kills the clone but instead of running away, she mourns. After they catch her, they are curious as to why the hypnosis did not work. As they observed what she had done, we again see her reach out to her young self as she begins to write letters to Maude. And then they knew. They couldn't imprison her because she was already a prisoner of the town she was leaving in. And they couldn't make her Alien because she was already alienated. So they realized she is already a part of their alien society. And there, with them, she was free.

I think the point of the movie is very clear - No one will save you (but yourself). You need to forgive yourself in order to save yourself.
I really loved this movie and I think the camera shooting is amazing. Playing a character with no dialogue is crazy and hard, and she nailed it.

Regardless of what people think of this movie, I hope that Kaitlyn Dever gets recognized for a phenomenal performance. She did so much with very little dialogue. ACTED her ASS OFF!!!🎉

What an optimistic title to watch with my family.

[NOT A SPOILER] All plot aside, I really loved how the aliens made weird hand/arm gestures like they were communicating through symbolism. Totally different take, great film IMO

The ending gave me a sense that all humans are abducted and we all live in our own created versions of reality (projected on as by aliens), becouse "they" have discoverd how much we like to escape from our traumas and drama. Realy thought provoking... Good Film

More alien paranoia/horror movies please!!

The Vast of Night was one of the gems from 2020.

Kaitlyn Dever is absolutely incredible in the show Unbelievable. So definitely excited to see her performance here. Seems very tense and suspenseful.

5:11 I got the opposite experience for this one. For me, when the creature has a terrifying design or presence and their motives remains unknown, making it lingers around longer makes it more horrifying imo. Because generally we dont expect something that wanna scare us will walk around calmly. But in this alien case it works because they're not here to play peekaboo. So they literally dont need to stay in the dark like ghost or the boogeyman. Honestly, it works for me.

I actually caught the message of the movie. They didn't keep her possessed and she didn't mind dancing around with possessed townsmen because the Aliens realized she was already Alienated from the whole town (Get it, ALIENated). She gets the fantasy she wants without possession and the Aliens dont have to worry about her rebellion.

Seeing the aliens as much as we do is one of the biggest pluses for me, lol. I'm sick of films playing this "don't show the monster!" game. It's hardly ever as well executed as they pretend it is. Not everything is Jaws or Alien.

The way Chris ominously looks at us in the thumbnail really gives the vibe that no one will save us

Kaitlyn would have been a fantastic Ellie in a Last Of Us movie 7-8 years ago.

This movie felt like a nightmare, in a good way. It represented my dreams, what happens in them, and what fuels them. I'm not going to explain this in order to stay away from spoilers, but holy hell, did this hit home in a certain way.

I just finished this movie and I was thoroughly impressed. Kaitlyn Dever is amazing. I actually loved the alien designs. Overall, I think this is my fav sci-fi film to be released in quite some time.

I have mixed feelings about the film. It's very thought provoking, I enjoyed the suspense, and I thought Brynn was pretty badass. The actress did a fantastic job despite having few lines, and I don't think the silence took away from the movie. I felt conflicted by the end because although I can appreciate the metaphors, I found it confusing when thinking about it more literally. I get the killing her clone metaphor, but why did the aliens make that and send it after her seemingly to kill her? Why are they suddenly peaceful towards her after learning of her trauma?

Why do they enslave everyone except for Brynn? The whole "they relate to her being different" thing doesn't make sense to me. Why would she be worthy of living and being happy while no one else is in the entire town? And why is Brynn so happy to have her friends be fake husks of people? I feel like she'd have to be pretty evil to enjoy that. I'm very conflicted about it. i don't think it deserves the amount of bad reviews it's gotten, but I wouldn't say I fully loved it either.

I actually just watched, and adored the movie. The Alien interaction was a huge part in telling this story. What an excellent movie. A+

There is a point where the perspective switches and we see one of the aliens in focus with HER sneaking up on IT instead of the other way around. I realized that the aliens never actually ever tried to hurt her at all. She, on the other hand... Whoo.
Loved it.
