I love the irony that the the building that marks and engles published the manifesto is now a trendy cocktail bar where the average working man can't afford to drink in

I once asked a Marxist what job will you make me do in this utopia? He said, anything you want. I asked, so i can be a professional golfer and tennis player even though i suck? Maybe an actor as well. I then asked who gets the beachside mansions and who allocates them?
Yep end of conversation and i hadnt even warmed up :(

Interesting fact: The communist manifesto was originally written as, "Draft of a Communist Confession of Faith"

Hey lex, Interviewing 2 guests with opposing viewpoints simultaneously, would be great with subjects like this. Not replacing these discussions, but as it's own segment.

This guy mentions a "critical roll" meanwhile he is rolling 1's

First time in a while to hear the Cadbury Family mentioned alongside the concept of Utopia. What they worked towards was phenomenal and has had such a lasting impact for the people of Birmingham.

_What really destroyed Marx was his idea of the progressive impoverishment of the workers._

_Marx didn’t see that the most important characteristic of capitalism was large-scale production for the needs of the masses; the main objective of capitalists is to produce for the broad masses. Nor did Marx see that under capitalism the customer is always right. In his capacity as a wage earner, the worker cannot determine what is to be made. But in his capacity as a customer, he is really the boss and tells his boss, the entrepreneur, what to do. His boss must obey the orders of the workers as they are members of the buying public. Mrs.Webb, * like other socialists, was the daughter of a well-to-do businessman. Like other socialists, she thought her father was an autocrat who gave orders to everybody. She didn’t see that he was subject to the sovereignty of the orders of the customers on the market. The “great” Mrs. Webb was no smarter than the messenger boy who sees only that his boss gives orders._

* Beatrice Webb (1858–1943), wife of Sidney Webb (1859–1947), later Lady and Lord Passfield, British Fabian socialists.

Steve Keen is an educated man and he knows his Marxist classics unlike Peterson who really didn't even understand Marx's easiest writing, the manifesto.

They all seem to define Marxism differently, first that dude who says it's just the "critique of capitalism" and now this dude. Crazy.

Marx's upbringing and background, so interesting, and the relationship with Engles is quite revealing

The fact that the rate of profit demonstrably doesn't tend to fall, that worker pay has not been compressed and that no such revolt has, or will, occur, Marxism is long past being taken seriously by intelligent people.

Just listening to this guy for a few minutes, his argument falls apart. There's this thing called supply and demand. Not everyone can do everything at any time. Marx truly was a fool, utopia is the Matrix, and everyone that has taken socialism seriously has suffered the consequences. When people experience real socialism not just words on paper but failing supply chains, non profitable centrally controlled production, collapse of their society then they understand. The cheek of this guy living in a capitalist society to berate the hand that feeds, which is raison detre in the academic world, living off handouts (funding).
