Hi, Al. This video is a dub of a Tumblr / Reddit meme about an optometrist (and that you shouldn't put boiling water into your eyes). Please show it to people who will like it. Thank you.

*The Public* is also the reason why bleach labels say "do not ingest"

That optometrist is the humanized version of the instructions on a shampoo bottle

See, I'm just intelligent enough to be like, "That sounds like a terrible idea. Wouldn't pouring boiling liquid into my eyes be incredibly stupid?" but just dumb enough that it took the clarification for me to understand what he was actually trying to say.

I'll admit when he said "boiled water" I was like "how on earth won't that damage an eye?"

As a programmer, I would like to say that I do appreciate the clarification.

This is a good optometrist that doesn't want to deal with the easily avoidable appointments.

As they say, behind every warning label is a story. And probably a lawsuit.

Yep. Sometimes the lowest denominator of The Public astounds you with its feats of self destruction. To this day my favorite Yellowstone story was the conundrum faced by the park managers because they needed to figure out a bear proof storage box the smartest bear couldn’t open but the dumbest tourist could. Because there was a gap between the two and it was immense

the way that “The Public” was said made it sound like some sort of approaching imminent danger

edit: thanks for the likes babes 🥰

I mean I misinterpreted what he said as "water that is boiling", and yet was smart enough to know that was a bad idea. I can see people making this mistake and going blind.

I like how you can tell that the doctor has probably been sued because he assumed the last person he told that had no common sense to not pour boiling hot water in their eyes

Honestly, I thought about that statement and immediately got red flags like "boiling water would ruin your eyes right?" And then immediately questioned myself when I heard it was advice from a professional, like "maybe it would be alright?" It's sad to say that in the second after he said it I was already half prepared to rinse my eyes with boiling water.

Remember, when you see a dumb, silly rule that no one would actually break, *it's there because someone has broken it in the past*

You can have faith in individuals, and you can have faith in humanity.

The Public however, will always find new ways to disappoint you

I'm so glad that the doctor has protected him from the intrusive thoughts

My cousin tried dating an optometrist once, but they had to break up.

They just couldn't see eye to eye.

The optometrist that has glimpsed into the deepest, darkest reaches of human stupidity and now feels the need to clarify every detail. Truly a legend.
