Thanks for this.. Although I am a Grateful Dead fanatic and model my guitar playing on Jerry Garcia and Chet Atkins, Stan Getz is my favorite musician. I suffer from similar demons to his having been a daily heroin user for many years. I was able to let that go back in 2008 but I know that Stan was almost never sober. I never did get to see him play. I was lucky to see Miles and Jerry Mulligan and Ahmad Jamal and some other jazz guys: Dave Brubeck and John McLaughlin...

Stan Getz Was In The Groove of Bossa Nova
The Pocket of Bossa Nova
Not The Time Signature But In The Moment
That’s How These Guys Played
Sure Stan Getz Was a Monster Sight Reader
Yet He Can Fall Right Into a Groove It’s These Grooves and Pockets
That Just Engulf a Monster Player Like Stan Getz It’s Not About Playing Fast or Filling In As Much Space As Possible
It’s About Letting Each Note Breath
Stan Can Easily Turn Up The Speed Yet That’s Not The Point
There’s a Moment To Lay Back And Groove
Big Daddy and The Bossa Nova Was Not For Everyone You Ether Could Feel It Or You Don’t 😮
Stan Getz Was a Natural at Bossa Nova 😊
