If you love Getz also listen to Zoot Sims. They were pals in the Woody Herman band. Hear Zoot with Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Ron Carter, and Philly Joe Jones on Interplay, and Loose Blues the 2nd one getting a mini revival due to YouTube.

Great musicians and it's so nice to have this documented in this way. I like the way Gary Burton is stretching the music into new, somewhat 'impressionist' territory here. Getz's voice indicates that drinking and smoking were perhaps taking their toll but his playing seems unaffected -- always a unique, unmistakable and very musical 'voice'. I would be very interested to see a new, high-quality documentary on Getz. Maybe Burton can make one for Netflix or some other production house because he has some unique insights into Getz's life and work as well as a supreme ability to analyse him musically, in addition to being a great storyteller.

Roy Haynes should be heard also with Chick Corea Chick's compositions were perfect for allowing his brilliant organic very modern drumming to shine Now He Sings Now He Sobs

Wow, Stan, Gary Burton, Steve Swallow and Roy Haines! OMG. Where's the keyboard player? Funny to hear Stan talk, cuz he usually doesn't.
