This video discusses the meaning of different size print in Bibles. Bible fonts are smaller than typical books, and the font size is advertised in proportion to the size of the Bible.

Thanks so much for clearing this up for me wish I understood all this before I purchased my last Bible that was over 200 dollars. That I can't read for very long. I also wish all bible reviewers would start out with the font size right off the bat it would save me a lot of time. Thanks again.

Very frustrating. Thanks for addressing this. As a former librarian, I know that large print is 14 pt or over, and giant is 16-18 and up. I have a "giant print" that is actually 14 point (barely large print), and a "large print" that is 9 point advertised as 10.5. Makes a girl want to scream. It's too bad that so many of the local Bible stores have gone out of business and we have to buy them without seeing them. I wish they would standardize these things. Thanks for doing this video!

My dream is a giant print Bible with journaling / wide margin space!! Why do they not make that? Thanks. Good video:)

Very interesting, I never knew that to this. This explain why some people give bad reviews for translations that state they are large font but then people find the print too small.

Another consideration is whether the text is bold print or not. I can deal with a 9 to 10 pt font, but if it is a skinny font (and not bold e.g. TBS Westminster) then I struggle. But a 9 pt font that is bold (Cambridge Concord) I'm good. Give me a Longprimer or Turquoise any day. 11 pt font and bold.

Thank you, Tim for explaining how the term "large print" varies depending on the type of bible the reader is purchasing. It's sort of odd that the term is so relative.

Your videos and perspective are always informative and well stated. Thank you.
I am in my early 60s, and I need a large print in order to read. I now have any study Bibles on my Olive Tree app so that I can read the notes. Though I have a few large prints in various versions, my main physical Bible is a large print Open Bible (NKJV) from around 1990. In the regular size margins, I can write a three letter ‘key’ for a note that is very helpful. For Instance, ‘CSB’ for the CSB Study Bible, ‘ESV’ for the ESV Study Bible, ‘Mac’ for the MacArthurStudy Bible, etc.

You didn’t mention super giant Bible. 16-point font size. I was looking to see if you reviewed one.
