I have a theory about this movie...
She fades away when noone cares about her, her mum was the only one who truly did, so after she died, that's why she faded... when someone starts caring about her she starts to reappear more.... I believe the problem is that she never cared about herself enough, she never believed herself to be important due to the trauma of being ignored, when people ignore you you start to feel like you don't exist, you don't matter, so she believed that. She abandoned herself to the point she made herself dissappear.... she made herself depended on someone else for validating her existence.
That's what such trauma does to us.

My theory is that the original scrip was changed or shortened, what was missing was her realizing her self importance, that she doesn't need someone else to validate her, that she mattered regardless.... that's what made her

The whole "she was selfish when her mother died" is ridiculous and makes no sense whatsoever... especially since they already ignored her before she disappeared fully.

Maybe the original script was changed or shortened for whatever reason.... but it had too many incongruences.

I was expecting this movie to have a totally different ending. I thought Holly committed suicide after her Mom died and she was stuck in purgatory. Then the fighter was going to show her that more than just her Mom cared about her.

Holly’s sister gives birth to a girl and names the baby Holly in tribute.

Her brother has the kaleidoscope and mutters “Don’t worry Holly, I will keep this with me always.”

Her Dad goes to the cemetery with 2 bouquets of flowers. He breaks down and cries as he places the flowers on Holly’s grave.
