I’m trying to understand the concept in 21:33 where it get tighter and looser. So with heat it automatically tightens itself? No maintenance required?

Don’t forget the best thing to help keep a fence strong is maintenance. We put up a section of fence about 1/2 mile exactly 49 yrs ago this week. Memorial Day 1974. We’ve kept it clean, tight, and made sure the post were in good shape. My folks are gone now but the fence is still holding cows. I wish I has the $$$ to rent such equipment, but I don’t. So I’ll have to rely on old standard techniques. Like making sure the post don’t hold water as stated in the video. And making sure we string and wrap the wire correctly so it doesn’t twist the corner post, and such. Thanks for the video.

I personally appreciate all the content. Can all us small farmers afford to rent that equipment or hire the contractors? No we can’t. I have learned tons of techniques from them that I use on my farm when I build my fences. Without this content, the only way I could learn it would be by hiring them, which I personally can’t afford. But I can take what I learn from there and apply it.

Also a new “first gen” farmer. Learned 80% of my fencing skills here. Great talk at Mountain Readiness retreat this weekend in Harmony NC. Your channel has given me the knowledge to gain the experience! I’d put my fencing up against any pro any day of the week. Thanks Josh!

Man, oh man, I wish we had all that technology to redo my 90 acres of my small farm way back in the 1980's. That is way so much better than the metal fence poles. When we bought the place the fences were particularly sad. It to us close to two years to replace the fences. Digging holes, putting the posts in, cement. The original fence posts were from 80 years before and made from local pinion trees. Then pounding the posts, metal and wood. Can't tell you how many hours under the hot desert sun my family and I sweated till the sun went down. Yup, wish we had that stuff back then. So much easier and better than what the old timers used back in the day. Great video. 👍

Love this type of content because you always see something new that you might not have seen on another fence project.

Well, definitely impressed with the entire video. Thanks for putting it together and to all those vendors. My fencing techniques have been two part fence puller, hammer, staples and come-along. O am certainly going to check out every single one of those guys that showed up there!

In Australia all those posts would be galvanised steel pipe with caps and the intermediate line posts would be majority star shaped pickets .

Electric wire would also be on offset brackets both sides a lot of times as it deters livestock better and minimises kangaroo damage to the fence .

I have to fence off just under an acre of pasture land so my animals don’t wander in the yard. Should be easy! Thanks for the tips

I had sticker shock when I went to look at woven fence this last weekend. Damn near $500 for 100 ft roll. Damn, is that normal? LOL
